I have just had a very successful wombling adventure to the shops.

Went to Card Factory to do my annual 'Stocking up on Christmas gear'

6 rolls of wrapping paper for £1 (previously 3 for £1) Saving £1

    2 x 3 pack of wrapping paper for £1.98 (previously £1.99 each) Saving £2

Pack of 50 Christmas cards for 99p (previously £1.99) saving £1

Then in the till at Mr T's there was a receipt with 6 clubcard points on it and a 5p in the change drawer (till kill?)

Total £4.05 (won't count the receipt until I cash it in)

Fantastic, also the midnight pint is a great start to the wombling year:T
I'd like to join in again this year please :)

Numbered now Autumn. Hope things are going better for you.

Wow Foxy! Balley good start girl!!!

I'm also out of the trap with train ticket savings for two skid journeys in January bought in advance with a friends and family discount card totalling £75.70. So glad I got this card when it was a Tesco Clubcard deal. I didn't count these savings last year, but feel like I can/should as the skids make this journey to us twice a month at least.

Happy New Year to all my fellow wombles xxx

    Brilliant Dizzy, definitely count that.

    Hello
I'd like to join again this year, last years total was up to £141.25 before i stopped/forgot to track the amount, but still continued YS hunting - i can't walk past reduced food if i know it is going to be something i will eat/use. A few months ago there was an entire pallet load of T cherry tomatoes at 5p a pack - i picked up 19 packs to freeze in place of the tinned alternative!

This year i am going to use the price of the item i would normally buy against the reduction price, as most of the time i wouldn't have bought the original, non YS item in the first place!

Unfortunately, our second freezer died this year and we lost the entire contents  (in a rental property with no replacement clause), so i have to be a bit more restrained on picking up bargains, and eating through the stores this year!

Fantastic about the tomatoes. It's a great example of where a lot of people would lose out through not seeing an alternative use for the tomatoes and just think what would I do with that many fresh Tom's? It's thinking ahead about what you can do with an item.

Sorry about your freezer. Would that not be covered on your contents insurance though?

I found a £1 coin while walking in the park.

    Total £1.02.

Horray! I seemed to find more of those in December than ever before. Since Christmas it's all pennies. There is a cycle of roadkill it would appear. I had 3p today.

Very cool. Although grrrr to non telling people!
Shop assistant charged me £1.75 instead of £2.29 as my mince would not scan. Saving 54p
2 quiches brought for NY celebrations by my sister £3 each = £6
Meatballs also brought by sis = £1
Bottle of mulled wine brought by mum £3

I was just saying to Mr Fox this morning I am going to slow roast the next load of tomatoes I find and stick them in a little oil. The sunblush ones in supermarkets are sooooo expensive for what they are, and my boys can demolish £4 worth in one lunch time. That and making pickled cauliflower. It is DHs favourite and that is hugely expensive too for what it is.

Ah we did work this one out before, think 4 Mr T points is £1? Although I don't add those to my score until I receive my vouchers each quarter as that is much easier to say then. Welcome by the way FVD :)

Tesco Clubcard points are only worth 1p each. Of course when you swap Clubcard vouchers for deals they can be worth as much as 4 times the face value.

My daughter and I got a free bus ride home from my sister's home on New Year's Day as bus travel in London is free on that day. I saved £3 as my daughter was using my spare Oyster card as hers did not have enough money on it

    #13 current total = £90.65
