Day three of my £1.00 a day and I have no plans to go near the shops toady.I have to take some library books back but no shops anywhere near there thank goodness
Breakfast was just a couple of slices of wholewheat toast ,OJ and a coffee
Lunch will be a mushroom omeltte with a yogurt to follow and I have scrummaged out of the freezer a couple of Lamb chops and some mixed veg and mash potato .I have some banana custard left over so that will be pudding.
On my shopping list by the kettle there is only needed for the week-end
6 eggs,
half a cucumber,
tea bags
So if I can last out till at least friday without shopping my £7.00 will more than cover it .Its making me concentrate on what I have got indoors and not thinking 'oh I'll nip to the shops for some bits' Its often those 'bits' that end up costing more than you think as you see stuff and get tempted to buy.
Well done to all of you so far this week you are all doing so good and keeping your spending under control. :)0 -
Good morning everyone,
don't know if I will be able to catch up reading all the posts. The thread grows a bit too fast for my infrequent visits.
I am still however plodding on, spent £40 on Saturday, first big spend of the month.
Have the oven heating at the moment to bake apple crumble. A friend, very kindly gave me a huge amount of apples for free.
Having meat loaf in tomato sauce for dinner, afraid it is not hm but M&S.It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!0 -
Did my weekly SM shop today and managed a total of £60 exactly:j. I'm really pleased with this as I had a lot of cupboard stuff to get and really thought it was going to go over my £70 budget. Stocked up on h£niz beans, 6 tins were £3.10 but buy 2 packs for £4.00 so I now have 12 tins in my cupboard. A bit excessive I know but hey, I was thinking they are so expensive individually and they aren't going to go off any time soon so I might as well. I'm sure it will be cheaper in the long run. Got nappies and toilet rolls too - I'm so shocked at the total.
Just got to keep out of the local shops for the next week again now.
p.s. I know that I'm not helping local businesses by just doing a large shop at a main store but I'm sure I'd end up spending so much more. I feel a bit guilty about this though - anyone else have the same problem? It also means that I only spend once or twice a week (excl DD) which helps me a lot. I find if I pick up one thing in a shop it normally leads to a basketful by the time I reach the till. I'd probably have a really high figure for monthly no-spend days, maybe I should add them up for another booster for me!0 -

I do especially as we are blessed with a wonderful greengrocers and bakery, the quality is so much better but in my case it tends to be lack of routine! I'm sure I could manage to stay on target if I went in with a couple of pound in my purse and no more - the only problem there though is the lack of prices on display. At the end of the day we have to do what works best to safeguard our own families futures before we look outside.0 -
A NSD for me today, I have resisted the urge to cheer my self up by buying rubbish! Did need some bits from c**p £3.74 and eggs from farm shop £1.70 yesterday. I think I'm not doing too badly. Onwards and upwards!0

No spend day today for me. Taking OH's Mum & next door neighbour to Aldi tomorrow so might end up getting some fruit. Lidl is opposite is - don't suppose anyone knows if their offer on Cathedral City chesse is still on, do they?
I also wouldn't mind going to Morrisons to stock up on coke which they have on offer plus maybe some Ben & Jerries icecream but I don't know if I'll have time, although I believe there is one near to the Aldi & Lidl but not too sure where exactly.
I have just eaten one of my DD's blueberry muffins that my DD made yesterday at school - ummm, very nice!Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0 -
