Not paid for logging in time

My employer asks that I log in to my computer before my contracted hours, so I am ready to start working as soon as my contracted hours start. Logging in to everything can take 5 to 10 mins every day.

However this logging in period is unpaid.

Should it be?

Also logging off before end of Hours is the same , you log off after finishing time

Leave the systems running ready for work.

If the company requires you to log in and out that is working time.

Work places get away with this nonsense because people let them.

They can however treat this as unpaid working time as long as it does not take you below min wage.

A secured hibernation may be a quicker option to shutdown and restart the systems unless they also want you to turn them off.

If logging on/off to a works computer and works system is part of your job description and workload then of course you should be getting paid for the time it takes to do it.

It's work related activity, it either gets done on their time or your manager/ supervisor does it.

If it takes 10 minutes to login they need to sort their systems out.

Just turn them off at the wall if they won't pay you.

I'm not sure why you should be expected to pay for their slow systems/lack of investment. As logging in is work related I don't see why you shouldn't be paid to do so.
