Council Tax Rebanding

Hi,

Can you put in a rebanding request for a property that you no longer live at now, but paid council tax for when you were living there?

No. You have to ask current council taxpayer if they will ask for the property to be rebanded, if they have lived there for less than 6 months, they are entitled to make valid appeal.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

And the neat thing is... it works even if you didnt instigate it. I had a letter pop through the door from the council of the house I lived in 10 years ago (for 4 years) and are repaying me just over £500!

Now that is a nice surprise, I wouldnt have expected them to chase me through 2 addresses to get that to me.
  • Thanks for the help.
