Compers Challenge 2019

Sites hosting competitions shake it up, change the parameters, get off the bandwagon, do something different, be cheeky if you don't ask or tell the PR companies you don't get it. If its a low value item say the competition will only last for a week instead of a month or that you have a minimum prize fund of £50 as you value the loyalty of your visitors so you'll only host the competition if you offer 5 instead of 1 prize. Stop following the norm when it comes to quantity and time frame i.e. prizes becoming less and less (1 bottle, box, hamper, voucher) and competitions running for longer and longer i.e. 4 or 6 weeks.

Obtaining contact details on sign up and passing these straight on to the PR companies, so I don't have to worry about not replying to an email within x days. Hosting competitions that only run for a month. Asking a question which means I increase my general knowledge; searching for the answer has led to finding new websites/competitions. I'm not the only one that enjoys entering competitions on your websites as I often see others announcing wins from them on a regular basis.

Not sticking with the norm (gleam - which has become extremely temperamental) and trying out a different entry method of a simple straightforward form which means non-users of social media can continue to enter. Having a dedicated page for competitions which you keep maintained and updated. Announcing the winners when you do host gleam competitions. Not bombarding me with requests to allow notifications, sign up to newsletter or follow you on Instagram. Having a simple layout which means visiting and navigating round it is a pleasure and thus I spend more time reading the content. Less is definitely more and I wish more website owners would take this on board. (P.S. Thanks to your husband for helping you create the simple form entry method)

Hosting lucky dip giveaways which means you receive a surprise in the post instead of a bill. Going against the grain and giving away 20+ prizes (the majority of gleam competitions only have 1 low value prize available). Having a different prize every month which means it doesn't feel like dejà vu when you visit the site to see what prize is up for grabs. The prizes being everyday objects that you can place on a worksurface, table or desk which continue to spread joy when you see the quotes on them and encourage conversation for example where did you get that coaster from.

APR - Rachel's Random Resources
Organising quick, simple giveaways in conjunction with various book bloggers. Introducing me to new authors, bloggers, genres and books. Continuing to give away physical books, there's nothing like the smell of a new book or the sound of turning a page and plus you can pass it on to others after you've read it. Hosting giveaways for 7 - 14 days so there's none of this waiting for a month for the competition to finish and then another 28 days to receive the item. Coinciding giveaways with release days which means the item is still top of my wish list and I can go off and purchase the item when I don't win; the short time period means I've not spent my money on something else or been put off by other opinions this is something I wish DVD promoters would take on board.

Working with sites that host competitions that involve answering a question via email or form. Taking the time to include a note stating which site the prize was won from when sending out prizes. Sending out prizes quickly and promptly.

Taking on board and maintaining the daily and magazine threads. It means I don't have to bookmark numerous websites and I can enter competitions quickly and easily when using other peoples equipment.
