I am also married to this man! Our home office is a mess - full of 'useful' paperwork OH has accumulated from contracts over the years. My DD brought her uni stuff home - but thankfully we've already taken some of it to her new uni flat (seeing as she has to pay rent on it over the Summer) Some things which she had last year don't fit in this year's flat, though (blanket box (useful storage/ seat), set of shelves) so we are hanging onto them in meantime - plus a chest of drawers which she thought she'd need (and could do with in reality as storage is limited) but there is no room - thankfully we have the space and they may even get used by DS1 when he goes to uni, depending on where he ends up.

DD has cleared lots of younger stuff rom her room (mainly books) - I've sold the books (most of them) on fb00k and she's made around £45 (kiddy fiction paperbacks - not bad going) Some bits have gone to CS, some recycled and some small odds and ends to shoebox appeal. She's also been running down her toiletries stash :T

We're going to tackle DS2 and DS3's rooms next..... they are both in smaller rooms and have loads of stuff.... I always do a clear out in summer hols - sometimes more successfully than others

So far both boys have sorted books and clothes (we tackle it in categories, so KM fashion)

GDPR could be your friend greent.

This 'useful' contract stuff probably contains a load of information about previous clients he should no longer be keeping...... I used this as a reason this weekend to get OH to agree for me to shred his last job's notebook, which otherwise would have cluttered up the place for a number of years before being shredded.

OH has now been quoted another £130 on top of the already increased insurance premium to be able to renew his insurance this week. So that's an extra £200 he has to pay for being hit by 2 other drivers in the past year.:(

My car has also gone to the garage this morning, hoping to kondo a mysterious clunk or clunks I've been getting going over speedbumps/potholes. Of course, since booking it in at the garage, the clunking has stopped.

I've kondoed half a bottle of brown sauce into food recycling this morning. Discovered it was dated April 2014, which is probably past its best even by my standards......

Have just sorted the fridge it's a long overdue job but I can now say I can see what is to use! and will use it! result!!!

Sympathise with all the "rebounding" going on. I am currently storing 4 fish tanks and various bits of fishy paraphernalia plus 3 guitars and assorted electronic gadgetry, plus 2 suitcases for my youngest son. Also a box of school and university photos and memorabilia for my eldest son. One day..........:rotfl:

Still no legal completion date set yet. I spent time over the weekend sorting and packing boxes. But I think I've done about all I can for now. There's a lot of packing that really has to wait until more or less last minute.

I can relate to feeling overwhelmed by clutter. I am fed up with being surrounded by boxes. Hey ho. I just tell myself it will be worth it....and one day I will get straight again.

I think when I move I will just pile most of the boxes into one room so that I can at least get the the lounge, kitchen diner and one bedroom straight fairly quickly. Luckily there is also a very large dry shed so that will help. I can at least shove all the fish stuff in there and forget about it. :rotfl:

I keep finding things the daughters left here, this morning it was a pair of walking boots from at least 27 years ago that surfaced from the depths, as is always the way when asked if there was still a need for them the answer was no! Shoe bank it is then!

I shall mention GDPR to OH - he's all over it at work for them, after all. I shan't however, mention it before we go away next week...!

Ouch re your OH's increased insurance - and also re your car spring

40 mins in each of DS2 and DS3's rooms today - each was assisted by a bigger child. Lots of progress in DS3's room and it's looking much better. Some categories (of toys) done and some just sorted into types together in a box for sorting next time. However, the carpet is now able to be vacuumed without losing small bits!

DS2's room was in a much worse state to begin with (and had the less helpful big child assisting him - both kept getting distracted by stuff!) A few bits of gribble gone and a cupboard/ sorted and tidied. Not so much change visible at first glance, but progress made :T Some empty boxes have also made their way into recycling :T

ETA: another 30 paperback books of DD's sold via fb00k today :T
