    any lentils will work and you could use a tin of baked beans or mixed beans instead

    You might want to add a teaspoon of chopped parsley. It is supposed to counteract the "side effects" of beans.

  • never knew that. have got to remember that for my other half tomorrow at breakfast.

    ive just gone through a really old recibe magazine and found a beef crumble! never thought of a savoury crumble before. it tastes great and best of all...... its cheap.:j

    Beef crumble-
    Base= 250g minced beef
    ...
    hot water
    ...

    Can you give me an idea of how much water (i.e. a cup, 1 pint or 1 litre???).

    I love cooking, and this recipe looks really tasty, but I'm no good at naturally judging these things :(

    Also, can anyone see any problem using 125g minced lamb + 125 g minced beef?

    (I often save approx a third when buying the 500g packs of each)

    you can easily mix different minces together. you need about 2 cups. if you put to much water in then just extra gravy granules

    Thank you :beer:

    A bit off topic, but can I assume you can mix minces for anything (meatballs, burgers, cottage pie, spag bol, chilli's etc? :confused:)
