    2019 - A Clutter Free Life 27th Dec 18 at 6:48 PM
    To use Guineapigsqueaks/Sa1sysoo words “A new thread for declutterbugs in 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019!"

I made a fairly good start in 2018 but 2019 is THE YEAR that I finally get to grips with a full declutter - I would like to have NO rooms/cupboards/drawers of Doom & I would like to have a revamped bathroom & fully decorated house My DH is going to be very busy

Plenty of options available on numbering the clutter out

2019 in 2019 or 52 in 52 weeks even 365 in 365 days & if you are feeling really adventurous a la basketcase - you can weigh the clutter out

Whichever you choose or you may choose not to number, we would love to hear both your success stories & your ways/methods of decluttering - they may not have worked for you but they may work for someone else

I am hoping that everyone who posted on the 2018 thread will also post on the 2019 thread

Welcome one and all and happy decluttering!

    MrsSD

P.S. Hope this works as it is my very first attempt at starting a Thread

    Wednesday2000
I remembered I have used up a lot of toiletries this week. Body lotion, face scrub etc...

I used up a whole small tub of cream to put on my feet with socks daily as well. An old mascara binned too.

I have the donation bag to take next week. I might add another jumper to the bag as well.

Wednesday2000 repurposing is almost the same as decluttering as I assume that when they have seen service as pet blankets they will be ragged? The reason my DSis was not happy is that the cupping is painful & she bruises easily + this time she felt most of the acupuncture needles. Hopefully next time won’t be so bad - we have 11 more sessions

Ooooo 2 stars-an early Christmas present for me . Thank u Mrs SD

Took items to CS this morning. Nearly all are smellies that I sorted out from my present stash box or DM had given me that just weren't going to be used

    *503-514 smellie sets x 11 to CS
    *515 booklet into recycling
*516 accidently got rid of some stuff that I thought we didn't need after DDs nose op. Turns out it was the cat gum cleaning stuff!!! -bottle now in recycling

Did come away with one set that I will pop away as a neutral item. I checked online when I got home, I paid £4 in store but they are £12 online so a good bargain to start.

I can tell a difference in my decluttering. Normally my present stashes/storage would be stuffed full but they're not at all, nor last year. It's a small difference but a difference I'm very happy with

Saturday has been another bitterly cold, bright day with a fair bit of sunshine .
DSis & DH have mostly confined themselves to the upstairs - bedroom & office respectively Only venturing downstairs for hot drinks & food DSis had a sandwich for lunch & lo fish pie for dinner. DH & I finished the hm soup for lunch with hm croutons & sausage casserole with boiled rice for dinner. Still have one large portion of sausage casserole which can be a large lunch for DH or a snack for both of us
Last night I finished scarf 7 & started scarf 8 This morning I delivered 4 scarves to one neighbour - he delivered them to the homeless shelter today. The other 3 scarves were delivered to another neighbour - G who invited me in & I was there for half an hour chatting to him & his wife about homelessness/social responsibility & the B word/election G really likes the scarves & even tried one - plenty long enough & soft & warm. A win all round G also advised that his church also provides beds for a couple of ladies so I will knit a couple of scarves in beige, purple or red. Apart from knitting, I have stayed in watching films

4449 - 4457 Two drinks cans, cardboard packaging, paper packaging, 2 cardboard boxes, glass bottle & metal cap, foil, 0.5” junk mail - Recycled
4458 - 4459 Plastic packaging, bag of kitchen detritus - Binned
    4460 - 4466 Seven scarves - Delivered
    4467 - 4468 Two plastic takeaway boxes & lids - CS bag
4469 Ruined frying pan & lid - Tip bag

Roxie, nice to see you Now that is what I call extreme decluttering Joking aside, I hope that you are not finding it too difficult being an empty nester. However, I do like that you now have OH on board now you just have to persuade him to go through his wardrobe

Well Done Wednesday2000 You have got so used to decluttering that you forget you have decluttered

Well Done Happy Kitties Please don’t underplay your successes Happy Kitties It is a ‘massive’ difference

    Well Done Barny1979 & oceanspirit

Will see you all tomorrow - hopefully back to decluttering the office

    Hi,

Interesting in how people find Marie Kondo - I did a chest of drawers her way and its stayed v neat - partly as I only use a very few things in it! Feeling overwhelmed by everything in my house.
DD1 broke her laptop, and boyfriend is staying as fell out with his parents but moves into a flat tomorrow - hopefully some of his things will go.

643 bag of DD1 and boyfriend's to recycling
644 - 648 hoover and branches of neighbours tree they wouldn't take to dump
649-650 Moving box full of wrapping paper freecycled
    651 - 655 electronic and paper clutter
    656 - 662 CS donations
    663 broken brush in bin
    664 plate broken
    665 - 666 important emails sent
    667 - toiletry to friend
668 - key telephone made and decluttered papers to go with it

Went to relaxing swim and somone kicked me in the shoulder so taking it easy - ice packs and pain killers (may have to count them as decluttered!)

Can see I can't get to 1000 this year unless something drastic happens

Hope to be motivated by reading what everyone else is up to

Monday has been yet another bitterly cold, bright day with some sunshine

Another day of DSis confining herself to upstairs - apart from a trip to sm to purchase her milk & a few bits & pieces for her lunches for the week. She also vacuumed downstairs - finally got the hint as I had taken out the vacuum cleaner a few days ago & just left it in plain sight
DH put together the last of the slimline filing cabinets & then did a trip to the Tip. He spent the rest of the afternoon n his office.
I have written, addressed & stamped 95% of my Christmas cards - will post by the end of the week. Also knitting & watching Christmas movies.
Dinner was lamb loin chops, mash, green beans & carrots.

Tuesday has dawned dry, bright, sunny & a bit warmer than recent days. DSis is in the bath, I will follow as we have our acupuncture etc today DH has had his breakfast & is resuming his office tidying.
I have packed the rest of my wool into a 2nd slimline cabinet so all my wool stash is in one area & easily accessible. There ‘may’ be a cull after Christmas

4517 - 4527 Two cardboard boxes, 9 lots of cardboard packaging - Recycled
4528 - 4533 Six lots of plastic packaging - Binned

After our treatments, I will do a small sm shop then I think finishing the Christmas cards & scarf 9 is on the cards

Lots of utter crap binned from the garden storage *sigh* I don't know why we had it for so long.

Bottles and jars recycled and food given to the birdies in the park.

Tuesday continued dry, bright, sunny & stayed warmer than recent days. DSis & I had our 3rd visit to the Chinese Medical Centre. DSis had a better experience this time & came out feeling relaxed & happy - yippee 🥳 Whilst we were out DH repaired the gear lever on his motorbike. I couldn’t be ‘arrised’ to go the sm
Dinner was chicken fried in butter, boiled potatoes & mixed vegetables. Meat & vegetables from freezer.

4534 - 4538 Two small plastic pots, newspaper, plastic tray, plastic pot & lid - Recycled
4539 - 4542 Two lots of plastic packaging, bag of kitchen detritus, bag of office detritus - Binned
    4543 - 4556 Mini toiletries - 6 x soap, 6 x shampoo, 2 x body lotion - CS bag

Great work Wednesday2000 It is one of the mysteries of the universe - why do we keep cr*p for years rather than binning immediately?

Back in to report two bags of Christmas decorations and a nearly new Christmas tree gone to the CS. BiL home from hospital now after coronary artery bypass.

I haven't slept so well since he has been in hospital. He is making a good recovery now so I feel I can get on with my other stuff. I have been encouraging his only family member nearby, his sister, to take some responsibility in looking after him too.
I managed to get to the allotment once this week and unusually for me, our Christmas decorations are down from the loft . I usually leave it to the last minute but I knew that there were some to go for the CS so I got ours down at the same time.
I also finished crocheting my MiL knee blanket. Just one small one to finish for one of nieces and Christmas is mostly covered.
    Happy decluttering everyone.

Wednesday was another dry, bright & sunny day but slightly colder than recent days. Lazy day for all of us except DH & mine’s abortive attempt to deliver items to the CS. Everything in darkness & not a sign of a person even the clothing CS was shut Phoned & emailed to find out why & DH got a call back saying someone would phone Thursday & let us know opening times. Hm soup is zizzed & ready for lunches for the rest of the week. DH & I had the hm soup from the freezer for lunch & DSis had chicken nuggets. Dinner was bolognese sauce from the freezer with rigatoni from store cupboard. Enough left for tomorrow’s dinner with the addition of mozzarella - baked for 30 mins or so. Freezer emptying is progressing
