    No specific target again this year, just set your own.

    Whether you will be walking, running, cycling or swimming I hope that you will use this thread to keep us updated on your progress.

    It is good to have a target to aim for but don't over stretch yourself so much that you either get disappointed in your own progress or find that you have too much to make up after coming back from a holiday or extra work having cut back your miles.

    I say miles simply because I am old and still measure that way but your own personal challenge could be anything from miles, kilometers, laps, steps etc.

    Giving me a total to add of ......454.05 miles to add giving me a grand total of ........1,309.68 miles for the year. Not sure if Im on target or not but will keep on plodding. Im trying to increase my visits to the gym so hopefully that should improve things.

    Mid June, we went to Cornwall for a week and did some fantastic walks. The most memorable was a coastal walk from Port Isaac to the next port which is Port Quin. It took us a couple of hours each way, not because of the distance but the inclines. I have never walked up and down so many steps in my life!! The scenery was beautiful though and I would recommend it if you are ever that way. I could barely walk the next day, my legs ached so much!

    I'm up to 403 miles of deliberate walking/running for the year so far. I've not totally lost hope of achieving my target by the end of the year but it is looking less likely with the passing month! My Fitbit (which records my total steps/distance) has me at 955 miles (1537km) so far this year which I'm pretty happy with.

    Room for a not so small one?

    I love walking but I don't do anywhere near enough of it I will set my target at 1000 miles and see how it goes I have a sedentary job but also have two allotments and plan on moving house in 2019 so there shouldn't be any reason why I shouldn't achieve that

    Being a sadsack, I've just counted up the mileage that my phone recorded in the last 12 months and it came up at 717 so a target of 1000 miles is perfectly achievable

    Sorry you've had a rough year Dizzy. Life has a strange way of throwing things our way but you sound very positive and good on you for getting back to walking more!

    Ive got a fair few weeks to add again but will tot up tomorrow.

    A girl i work with has set herself a challenge of running a marathon over a month.....so around a mile a day. I am not and never will be a runner but it inspired me to get out every day for the minimum of 20/30 mins a day walking. I'm on day 8 so hopefully this will be reflected in next weeks fit bit total.

    Has been raining mostly today but as soon as there was a break, out I went and got my half hour in.OH doesnt think I will keep it up but that just spurs me on more.

    I ran my last 10k in August in 26 degrees and suffered afterwards and have finally given up running for good. However, I have been on a taster session for Nordic walking and loved it. I'm forgetting targets for this year now but have put Nordic walking poles on my Christmas list.

    Still walking every day with the dogs and go to a dance class once a week, so still moving!

    I used to go with my dad when I was a teenager and he used to do a lot of jogging. I went on my bike just to keep him company. In later years he stopped the jogging but has had both his knees operated on. Oh and a triple heart bypass so didnt do his heart much good either! lol.

    On the other hand, I used to work with an older lady who had always walked and she would go twice a week for 2/3 hour walks.

    She later developed pancreatic cancer and made a full recovery which is rare for that type of cancer i believe. I put that down to her above average fitness for her age and she is STILL walking. She is an inspiration to me.

    I'm up to 475.9 deliberate miles so far (out of my goal of 1000 for the year ). Whilst I'd definitely be a consideration distance away from my goal even if all my mileage had counted, the app I'm using to track my mileage (RunKeeper) keeps deciding to stop recording part way through a walk/run.

    However, my total Fitbit mileage for the year (so all steps recorded by my phone) is 1137.4 miles.

    I'm going to continue pushing to increase my mileage, but I'll be happy with 1500 total miles for the year recorded on my Fitbit, even if I miss my goal of 1000 deliberate miles

    Iíve been lax with updating my mileage as well!

    Iím averaging about 40- 42 miles a week and walked 180.71 miles in August, 170.07 miles in September (not particularly happy about that number, itís the lowest of the year so far).

    This year I have walked 1690.46 miles, so on course to beat my target of 1750 miles. Iíve used Race At Your Pace as well, although I donít sign up every month but it does give me extra motivation.

    Like others I have been lapse in updating my miles.
    Currently out with an achilles injury, so not running.
    But up to 1708 miles run for the year and hoping this injury is over with quickly so I can get back to some gentle training

    Well it looks like I need to find a hat to eat.........48.43 miles for the past week. Not quite the 50 I was hoping for but better than previous weeks.
    Gives me a goal for the coming week.

    Well folks I hit my 100 miles on Tuesday evening that's since 1st October so I'm very pleased with that think I'll go for either 125 or 150 miles in November. RAYP do a different medal each month so I'll at least have something other than worn out shoes to show for it

    Just as well I can use nhs discount in some shops so buying replacement trainers isn't going to be *too* painful

    In fact, as of right now I'm on 123 miles for this month so next month will be 150

    I upped my mileage to 150 this month and I hit that too I submitted my evidence to RAYP on Saturday at 161 miles and I've walked another 20 miles since so it's possible that I'll hit 200 miles by the end of the month

    My lovely shiny medal is on its way

    I've opted for 150 miles in November. December I'll probably go for 100 miles because I'm off over Christmas and new year so won't be walking so much.

    Still not losing any weight though my sleep has improved massively and the inches are starting to come off but I would quite like to see movement on the scales too!
