Not sure if I'm missing something here but looking at their tariffs (Octopus) it looks like they are quite high. I'm with Bulb as none of their elec comes from FF. Their new smart tariff is 11.27p off peak (7am -4pm and 7pm-11pm) 41.44 peak (4pm-7pm) and night rate is 7.59p (11pm-7am). these rate change depending on where you are in the country but this is for me on the south coast. The peak rate is high but if I get battery storage then I could make it so that there is no elec used at peak times.

This PowerVault trial is not suitable for me but may be of interest to others:

When people talk about their tariffs could they also mention the daily standing charge? It's time I reviewed my own supplier after the latest round of price increases but as a very low user the SC is significant for me.

I'll certainly be checking out some of the suggestions here, thanks all.

The Agile standing charge on my bill for electricity is 20p per day plus VAT = 21p per day.

The fixed tariff would have been priced at 14.86 p per hour. I gain if I can move consumption to a lower average. The average across my first half month's bill was 12.08p per hour including VAT. More work to be done!

We are on the Octopus Go tariff. They charge 5p/kWh between 00:30-04:30 and 14.02p/kWh the rest of the time. The standing charge is 25p/day. (inc VAT)

Since we changed to it last October, a month after getting the EV, our average cost per unit has been about 7.5p/kWh, although last month we got it down to 7.2p/kWh for all the electric we need to import. (inc VAT)
The slight reduction last month was probably because of improved solar PV generation during the month, reducing our daytime import at the day rate.

I would like to change to Octopus Go, but at present there is a hold on Smart Meter installs.

oooooh, the very geek in me has just seen that Octopus have an API that allows you to read all sorts of data from them.

    https://developer.octopus.energy/docs/api/#

From your own smart meter usage to Agile rates.

Very interesting...... i'm not sure which over providers go to these lengths. I read that OVO used to, but stopped it I think.

I purchased the Hildebrand Glow USB dongle and Hildebrand (with my consent) contacted Octopus to provide the access (took twenty minutes) to my smart meter HAN. All working very well.

The Bright application displays the numbers:

Cool, so if you make this call. (stick this url in your browser)

    https://api.octopus.energy/v1/products/AGILE-18-02-21/electricity-tariffs/E-1R-AGILE-18-02-21-M/standard-unit-rates/

Before 4pm you get today's Octopus Agile rates and do it after 4pm you tomorrow's Agile rates.

That link is for Yorkshire as i've used the -M on the end of E-1R-AGILE-18-02-21-M.

You would need to replace that M with the GSP_ID of your DNO.

I think it would be very useful to start tracking this stuff..... with a view to maybe switching one day.

Plus, with the next days data available, you could maybe plan battery charging or EV charging if the price really drops or just finding the lowest price point each day?

And you can do the same for their Go tariff too.

    https://api.octopus.energy/v1/products/GO-18-06-12/electricity-tariffs/E-1R-GO-18-06-12-M/standard-unit-rates/

    13.3p from 03:30 to 23:30
    4.99p from 23:30 to 03:30

I really think the use of API to tariffs can open up a gateway to a smarter home. Turning stuff on and off based on all kinds of metrics (Solar Generation, cheaper energy, empty/full batteries etc).
