The second class stamp price rise is illegal.
There is an Ofcom Price Cap of 60p.
Royal Mail have just ignored this and are refusing to change the increase amount or date.

2019 Second Class stamp prices
Dear Customer,
You may have seen media coverage around the new price of a 2nd Class stamp which is due to come into effect on March 25 of this year.
Due to an error on our part, our new 2nd Class stamp price of 61p will be 1p above the existing regulatory price cap for a period of 7 days - from March 25 until April 1. We are donating the revenue that we expect to collect from the error - around £60,000 - to the charity Action For Children, which helps disadvantaged children across the UK.
We apologise for this mistake, and we are sorry for any inconvenience it may cause.
Thank you for your continuing custom with Royal Mail.Free thinker.:cool:0 -
So it is OK to break the price cap as long as you give the profit to charity - the consumer donates to charity whether they want to or not and the rule breaker gets away with it. The money should be taken from the CEOs pay packet.0

Well that would depend on the terms of the regulator I suppose.
Keep in mind its 1 week early for 1p.0 -
So the Royal Mail has managed to ignore the legal cap of 2p. Perhaps we all should ignore the postage increases and not put stamps on letters at all. Imagine what a kerfuffle that would cause if we all did it. Come on Royal Mail admit your are wrong!0
