Awwwwwwwwwww twin panda boys born in Atlanta Zoo six days ago....Congratulations to Lu Lu

Just an update on the Atlanta panda twins....

This thread was started jut over two years ago when the twin pandas Mei Lun and Mei Huan were born in Atlanta Zoo. They are the only surviving twin pandas still surviving born in a US Zoo. Well they celebrated their 2nd birthday back in July and they are still together in the same enclosure and will be until they reach sexual maturity at about age 4.

They are gorgeous! When we saw the pandas in Beijing zoo all the adults, white, Chinese and Japanese, were cooing and aahing, while the children were quite blas!.

I wonder how Tian Tian is doing.

Breaking Panda news just dropped into my inbox.......

Panda cub born at the Zoo in Washington USA is a girl and the father is the male panda at the zoo Tian Tian. Here is a pic. Not to get confused here. The female panda at Edinburgh in the previous post is a female and also called Tian Tian. The male panda at Washington also has the same name Tian Tian.

Well there's nothing else for it - I'm off to San Diego next month, so I'll just have to call in on those pandas and say hello from all you panda lovers! Any messages?

    Happy Birthday Bai Yun

Sad Diego Zoo's female is 22 years old today. She joined the zoo back in 1996 and since then has had six cubs. Unusually for Pandas the last five where conceived naturally with San Diego's male panda Gao Gao.
She is currently bringing up her sixth cub Xai Luwu

You should have a great time as the Zoo is one of the best. I think you can get a two day pass as well you can get. Oh btw the zoo have an app you can watch the cam on as well.....

    Hello from San Diego!
Went to the zoo a couple of days ago - it felt surreal tosee the pandas in real life after spending so long watching them on the cam. Baby panda almost gave us a heart attack when it fell about 20 feet out of a tree - was perfectly fine though.
Off out for breakfast and a wander round La Jolla now - weather fab (again!).
    Laters!
