Thank you for popping in and posting Narola:) We didn''t have time to go as far as Port Elizabeth on our whistle stop tour but the parts of SA we did see are very beautiful - lots of contrast in landscape in the different areas. The flights/ holiday has cost a small fortune (or a big fortune relative to our means!) but it was worth every penny - am grateful to my son for being interested in rugby and wanting to go on the school tour - otherwise I would not have considered such a holiday at the moment :)
I assume you still have family back in SA?

Hi NOA. Yes all my family live in SA. We have lived in UK for 14 years. It's been hard having no family support system. PE isn't very big but also lovely beaches.

Thank You Puzz :) I always did have a travel bug which has had to be suppressed for a very long time, think I has resurfaced again and I think you are right about starting saving ;) x

Seems like a long time to have taken 5,524 steps of our 72,520 step journey towards debt freedom from our unsecured debt burden.
Better slowly than not at all, I guess.

Having a day of catching up on piles of paperwork today. Went to stay with mum for a couple of days, DD away with bf, DS has several days of rugby preseason training - he 's hoping to make the A team but I would rather he didn't :o I think it gets a whole lot rougher (not a big fan of contact sport myself).

Have a good day everyone, I have lots of catching up on diaries to do in my breaks...

  • Hiya, just dropping in to say hi! I've read your diary from start to finish (took a few weekends!) and it seems you've done incredibly well given the circumstances you've faced over that time. Glad to see you were able to keep DS in school and that DD had a successful journey through uni! And over 7% paid off now, great result so far! Will keep dropping in with interest! DSL

Hi NOA...don't be discouraged...if you hadn't started, you probably would have been in a far worse position. As you say slowly is better than not at all. Yes, it is a long road ahead for most of us, but in 3 years you have reduced the debt which is what matters most. Some of us, i.e me, increased the debt significantly in that same time frame. The important thing is that you haven't given up. Every step in the right direction no matter how slow or how small is a victory. I read somewhere...it doesn't matter how slow you are...forward is still forward. So well done you!
