I try to stay away from the bigger more expensive chocolates, so it's normally a fudge or a freddo that I will pick up, I know the odd chocolate bar every now and again adds up but you're right it is a cheap way to stave off the sugar cravings. Luckily I don't have to go to the shop too often during the week, otherwise I'd be worrying about the lbs as well as the £s.

  • NSD today :T

A quiet evening in the FTD household this evening, luckily we haven't had any snow, only sleet but it's so cold even with the heating on, looking forward to going to bed just so I can feel all warm and cosy.

Tomorrow will be spent completing tax return and aiming for a spend less than £3 day, only need bread and milk, should have picked them up last night!

  • Quick trip to Mr T tonight, ended up spending £8.50 but no secret chocolate so it's not too bad.

Tonights task is business admin for Mr FTD's business, so only a short but sweet update from me.

  • :T technically another NSD today (excluding paying a tax bill)

Tonight's dinner was disastrous, we had forgotten the main ingredient for the meal, usually we would order a takeaway or go to the shop to buy something else instead we ended up with scrambled egg on toast with garlic bread (the garlic bread was already cooking before we realised that we didn't have the main ingredient)

I think for February I will try and count the NSD's that will spur me on a bit.

  • It's finally Friday and it's the start of a new month!

We had a trip to Mr T this evening to avoid another mismatched meal, we'll do our proper food shop tomorrow (hopefully planned a bit better)

Not too much planned for the weekend, got some jobs to do around the house, a bit of work from home and hopefully some much needed R&R.

  • First NSD for the month today :T

Yesterday we did our food shop, managed to come in at £62 which I know is a lot for 2 people for a week but as I said we're not being as frugal as we could be, but saying that neither of us smoke and he barely drinks so we don't spend money on those things. I usually budget £100 a week so I was happy with £62.

Had a bit of a clear our yesterday, I think we both felt better getting rid of some stuff and freeing up space, it really does make you feel better mentally as well! We've agreed to do a bit each weekend during winter, gives us something to do and It stops us wasting money trying to find things to do.

We couldn't decide what to do today, we thought about going to a national trust property that's quite far from us but then decided to be more MSE friendly and went to a local national trust property that is pretty much on our doorstep, less fuel used and as we're members a free day out, a much needed walk in the fresh air albeit cold fresh air.

I've spent a lot of time over the last couple of days reading diaries and feeling inspired, the Sunday night blues have kicked in for me now though so I need to persuade hubby to watch something with me to take my mind off the week ahead.

Hi findingthisdifficult, just wanted to say hello and keep doing what your doing and I'm sure you'll get there. Love the national trust places my friend got a couple of free tickets and they were lovely places to visit.
  • Backdated update - things in the real world are proper rubbish right now :(

4th Feb - a trip to the local Mr T for a perishable top up, bad planning on my part.

    5th Feb - NSD :T

    Today - NSD :T

3 NSDs so far, this is progress. We do need to go to the Big Mr T's tomorrow to pick up a prescription, might also squeeze in a couple of bits to tide us over until Saturday when we do our main shop. (we like a treat breakfast at the weekend)
I've also decided to treat myself to a well known e-reader, I spend too much time mindlessly scrolling on social media when I could be engrossed in a book escaping the real world. I genuinely don't spend money on myself often and I can pay for it monthly without using credit, easy to budget for and could actually help my mental health too.

Hope all of you are well and staying strong on your debt busting journeys!
