  • Morning all,
I've been mia at my parents all week, I did start a post last night but got distracted so here a bit of a round up:

Friday - mum's coffee and a cheeky McDonald's while travelling

Saturday - trip to town with parentals few bits towards the Christmas pressie makes (which I need to crack on with this week.
Then blip 1 & blip 2 (more details below)

    Sunday - nsd

Monday - McDonald's brekkie on the way home. Food shop (£12.66 so not a disaster) pre paid for Chinese take away for tonight.

Blip 1: ethical Swedish clothing company that are pulling out of the uk had a 50% sale, which takes all their super lovely horrendously expensive clothes to normal M&s prices. £90 spent on 1x trousers (me) 2x tops (Pickle) 1x dress (me) 1xtop (me) then, the lovely rep who I'm beginning to get to know as a friend made it look like I'd hosted a party, so I'm also getting 2 tops as 'hostess gifts' so those, and another mystery item, have been added to my order.

Blip 2- £116 on a new wrap. Complete impulse purchase. This wrap is a very special design, it's the same pattern as one I already own, but a different colour way. And it's stunning. I was very sad not to manage to get hold of one when they were released (as a special edition at a wrap show). I couldn't turn it down. I will be able to sell it on when I've finished with it. Ho hum, it's only money.

Today is a work day - the supply agency could start offering me work from today, which I'm feeling very anxious about. Today I plan to work, from home, on my other job so can put them off for today. Today should be a nsd as I'm working from home and have prepaid for tonight's Chinese with the girls.

Really glad that work is going okay - sorry it's taken me so long to respond, I haven't really been around the past week or so. You have ALL my sympathy on the imposter syndrome. I work in higher education and I and a whole load of my women colleagues struggle with it (men in my team stared at me in bafflement when I mentioned it, although I am sure some do suffer from it!). I hope things are improving now? Keeping all my fingers crossed that supply work goes well.

Your blips sound like lovely blips to me, it's a good job I didn't know about the ethical Swedish company sale! I've just hit up the Black Friday sales on a few of my favourite sites, it's the only time I can afford ethical clothing!

Impressed by how well your targets are going, I might nick your idea in the new year if that's ok?
  • Hi dffl, no apologies necessary here, we all have real lives.

The job is going well, but imposter syndrome is going to be with me for a good long while yet.

You are right, lovely blips, and even more lovely when they arrive.

Feel free to steal what ever you find useful, we're all in this together.

Thank you for your encouraging post.

  • Evening all,

Another nsd today, so that's target me (woop woop) I'm wondering now if I can have a nsd tomorrow too (should be totally possible) and then I'll beat my target and make December a particular challenge.

Also sold a couple of items today (at last) so that's £4 into the 'extra earnings' pot. Going to attack pa and Qm33 now to see if I can boost the mop pot, really don't think I'm going to make target 3, let alone target 2 and I need some bigger things to sell to be able to fill the sling fund. Oh well, December is a new month. Looking forward to every one's end of the month, start of the month round ups over the next couple of days.

  • Evening all, going to do my daily round up now, then will pop back later with the monthly one. (When I get my calculator out.

    Today's highlights.
    Nsd - woop woop
Pickle poorly (booooo, had to pick him up early from the childminder then he vommed over his tea - grim)
Need to readjust the level at which I consider an event at work a 'crisis' as there seems to be a crises everyday I work. These are now relabelled as 'events'.
Hubby not coming home tomorrow, has been called to work all weekend. He is definitely coming home Sunday as he's working for a different client on Monday.

    I'll be back later.

  • Here we are with November's round up...

    MSE NOVEMBER GOALS

    Reduce mortgage capital by £500
Only #400 this month, but no generous parents giving the mop pot a bit of a boost I have still managed to achieve 3 out of my 4 mini targets for November. A last minute cash out of PA & Qm33, underspends in grocery, house hold & fuel pots and a sneaky tilly tidy to the mop pot fund from the christmas fund got us up to a nice round figure for the mortgage before the interest is added tomorrow and the monthly direct debit is taken off.

    Sling fund to reach £110
(£40 already in the pot) this has not been added to due to the failure to sell many things, I really need to put my big girl pants on and brave 3bay. ( I have bought a wrap though, for which I raided the Emergency fund - which is bad, but hey ho, it's only money.

Make £30 from surveys, cashback etc:j:j:j
    #36.60
    Broken down as follows:
    Qmee - 38p
    VO - #15.oo
    Shopm1um - #5.50
    PA - #11.72
    FB sale - #4.00

    13 NSDs :j:j:j:j
14 achieved - going 1 higher this month

    The mortgage situation
    Opening balance: £35,500
    Interest added: £73.99
    Standard payment: £297.89
    Mop pot: £176.10
    Closing Balance: £35,100
    Difference -£400

    Savings pots
Emergency Fund: £555.41 -£696.26 - funding tax free childcare account - new wrap & clothes purchases (ok, wrap & clothes are not emergencies, but I'm not in debt, hubby has an emergency fund too, and I'm due work expenses that will cover much of the wrap/clothes money
Annual Clean Fund: £70 £0 5 monday month so no spare to put in this pot
Wool Fund: £19 £0 too busy knitting with what I've got.

    Household Expenses
Groceries: £208.35/£250 - Not bad for a 5 week month (for shopping)
    Household Goods: £88.27/£100
Spending Money: £89.02/£100 (but if we add the wrap & the clothes in here.. way way way overbudget...)
    Restaurants: £83.54/£100
Stuff I'll forget: £126.75/£100 deposit for Christmas meal - I've paid everyone's, so I'll get it back either in cash, or I won't have to pay for our meal next week.& Toy storage for Pickle - I've just bought the boxes, agreed with hubby we'd go and get the units this month.
Fuel: £60.11/70 - sooo much better this month and that's with a work trip & a trip to my parents. We're away over Christmas so will go in hubby's car. Don't think I'll get away with not filling up at all this month, but you never know.

    MSE December Goals

    1) Reduce Mortgage capital by #600
This is massive and very likely unachievable, especially as it's Christmas, once the interest has been added tomorrow, I'll break it down into small steps - #400 in the minimum capital reduction which keeps us on track for our current mortgage free date

    2) Emergency fund back up to #700.
I add a small amount to my Emergency fund each month anyway. Taking that into account I need to find another #92.24 to hit target. (Oh, and it's Christmas.....)

    3) Surveys, cashback, sales etc. #50 not really enough to hit the mop pot and the EF targets, but i need some achievable targets.

    4) 15 NSDs - 1 more than this month

(the sling fund is still bubbling away, but 4 targets is enough. I'm going to have a think about some 2018 targets over December. Any suggestions??

  • Excellent number of NSDs, and hitting three out of four targets is very good going.
Best of luck for December... I’m also a bit worried about how Christmas might impact on my budget!

  • Evening all,

Pickle is still poorly and limpet like, making life challenging to say the least.
And, because I wasn't able to leave the house yesterday, friend and I had takeaway - do Friday wasn't a nsd and today hasn't been either because we did get out but it was to buy our contribution for tomorrow's bring and share at church. Normally I would make something, but it just won't happen.

In terms of my targets. I've had the start of the month wins from the mortgage going out, tv licence etc and I had £10 cash left in my purse from November, so I've rounded the rainy day fund up to £610 (£90 to go to target) and put the rest in the mop pot)

    Tomorrow should be a nsd....
