Should I turn the waterfall off in the winter on an outdoor pond with Koi and gold fish in

    I leave mine on however you have to keep an eye on it and it the water in the waterfall looks like it's starting to freeze then turn it off as you don't want to damage the pump.

    Depends if the waterfall is the only return or a secondary return.

    I make sure a return disturbs the waters surface, that prevents it freezing.

    Only ever froze once and that was very briefly in the early morning, after a few hours the return had cleared quite a bit of it away.
