The Poundworld bargains thread 11th Jul 15 at 1:33 PM
Sorry if another thread - couldn't find and couldn't see these posted. My local Poundworld has Ted Baker men's body spray and antiperspirant, oos on Boots www but £4.07, Aussie 3 minute miracle reconstrutor, cheapest is 3 for £10.00, Panete Age Defy Advanced Thickening Treatment, £9.99 in Boots and Samy fat hair dry shampoo, £5.99 for 6ozs in Superdrug, think one I got 5 ozs. HTH

Official MoneySavingExpert insert Tue 14 Jul: Poundworld told us most of the above items are available in most Poundworld stores throughout the UK, and are all priced at £1, but couldn’t tell us how long for. Be quick if you want to grab one.

Thanks to derms for sharing this offer.

Sorry to hear Poundworld are having troubled times. I don't visit or post as much on this thread, because

    1) Poundland has much more generous opening times (eg, 9pm most nights in Argyle Street, Glasgow!!) and

    2) Their pricing system, is, quite frankly, a mess - the amount of times I've had to slightly embarrass myself putting things back because it's not had a shelf label, and the price is higher - with a big queue behind me, was getting beyond a joke!

    3) I think the range of makeup isn't as good as it was, and many toiletries/pharmacy items that were originally £1 weeks before the takeover got hiked up (eg, Aussie products) - maybe this lost customer interest/loyalty as well? See Post #173 where I mention this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=72484836&postcount=173

That's not to say that Poundland don't muck up, but usually they either take the misplaced/mispriced item back, or say you can buy it for £1 and they'll sort the shelves/labelling out. (There's still the odd mis-price here and there at Poundland - most recently this (at the £1 section but other HUKDers said it was £2 https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/brasso-75g-or-silvo-75g-metal-polish-wadding-1-in-store-poundland-argyle-street-glasgow-2922798 )).

Would be interesting to hear what their original owner, Christopher Edwards Snr thinks (I knew it was Chris from the BBC programme a few years back, had to Google his full name)! There's a recent article about this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44446576

I wish him the best of luck, he seemed like an amiable chap and a man who knew his customers and suppliers inside-out.

Anyway, I posted these on HUKD last week - shelves emptied quickly - but there's more in the Argyle Street store again as of last night. Maybe because the sun has disappeared Sanpellegrino Limonata (Lemon) Or Aranciata (Orange) 2 For £1.

My picture is the original from 5th June, but there were plenty more on shelves last night. Also, these are the SUGARY version, not the re-formulation (wut!) with Stevia in them!!

I didn't realise that Poundworld traded under different names. The bargain store in my local high street - which I usually avoid in favour of Poundland - caught my eye earlier because of its closing down sale. I only realised the association when I got to the till and saw the sign referring to Poundworld.

Ther were a few thing there, apart from gardening stuff at half price many items I bought were wants and not needs.

Glad to see this thread hasn't been locked!

(Potentially) interesting/exciting news for those in Glasgow - the old Argyle Street, Glasgow Poundworld site now has a new occupant (picture taken around 8.30pm on Saturday):

One Below is a name that's new to me but competition is always healthy (Poundland, in my opinion, are the numero uno, deservedly so, as I'm a big fan).

Edit: And, I didn't know this, looks as though Chris Edwards is back in the game! "OneBelow is the latest venture by Poundworld founder Chris Edwards and will sell a variety of household products and food for under £1, according to The Grocer.
The first branch to open will be in Leeds at the end of February, with further plans to open stores in Bradford, Wakefield, Glasgow, Irvine and two in London by the end of March."

Great news! I'm a big admirer of Chris as well!

I love it that OneBelow's shelf labels are crystal-clear, showing the price and the item - seems consistent throughout the store, which is great.

Some quick things from Argyle Street, Glasgow:

Bio Glow Clean Skin Moisturising 3 In 1 Face Wash 100ml, £1 (Cucumber & Camomile, free from soap/alcohol/no parabens)

Bio Glow Clean Skin Cucumber Peel Off Mask 100ml (not a fan of peel-off masks, personally!), Cruelty-Free and Vegan, £1
(to be fair, I see these Bio Glow items at a few places for £1)

    Fdgitrix Cubez, £1

(Didn't take a photo in store, woops) I also got a Wisdom Step By Step 0-2 years Baby Toothbrush (older options available) for 89p, cheaper than Poundland

OneBelow, Argyle Street, Glasgow - 49p each - Impulse Shower Gel in "Soul By Melina Sophie" - With The Scent Of Blueberries, Jasmine & Orchids. Mild Formula. pH-Netural, 200ml.

Or "Dream By Paola Maria" - With The Scent Of Raspberries, Roses & Cherry Blossom. Mild Formula. pH-Neutral varieties, 200ml.

Though - annoyingly - OneBelow charged me 59p on my receipt! Bah! Didn't realise till I got home.

From Argyle Street, Glasgow: (German Import) Aussie Pure Volume Conditioning Mousse (With Australian Kakadu Plum) 180ml, £1
(English version is "Aussie Air Light Foam Conditioner Pure Locks Volume/For fine hair that feels a little thin").

Also, it seems those Impulse Shower Gels are indeed 59p - the shelf label has now been changed. I was told over a week ago it was a misprice (assume it was a "promo price" when the store originally opened).

Iceland has agreed in principle to acquire 19 of Poundworld’s stores, with four earmarked to become Iceland’s Food Warehouses.

If the deal is completed, the remaining 15 will become regular Iceland stores.

Thought these looked great - Love Hearts (Strawberry), Parma Violets (Violet), Rainbow Drops (Peach), Drumstick Squashies (Raspberry) Reed Diffusers, in store at the Argyle Street, Glasgow, store earlier.

Though Hotukdeals suggests these can be found in B&M for 50p!
