Eek, that has been an expensive day! Hopefully you can get someone out to the boiler while it's still working.

I'm sure there used to be microwaves for about £25... I think I'm showing my age. :D I did look into a replacement here when our gave off smoke but it's since behaved itself so I didn't get much further apart from wishing I still had the one that lasted us 20 years.

  • The microwave hasn't done too bad, I think we must have had it at least 10 years. It ways a ton! I can't move it. They come through the till at work now and they are so much lighter. Yes, I'm sure even when I started work at the supermarket just 2 years ago they were a lot cheaper. Cheapest seems to be £50 now.

Boiler has done well too, even when they serviced it they were surprised it was still Going, the make usually only lasts about 8 years, it's about 15 years old now. MIL had the same one at the same time and there's had to be replaced about 4 years ago and ours is used a lot more.

Looking back, both things we should have been saving for.

I'm hoping my plans for Christmas pay off today, I have 4 siblings with 7 of their own children and 7 children from their partners. I always give each child £10 (£140). My children don't usually get anything from my brothers and just a selection box from my sister's. I decided to try to make each family a movie hamper, I've ordered a tub of heros/celebrations, 2 large bags of popcorn and a tub of hot chocolate each, working out at £7.20 a family (£30). Depending on money I might add them an actual film each. Just need to get a basket and tissue paper and wrap them. Does it sound Ok? I can't think what else to put in them.

I really like the idea of a movie hamper. You can get DVDs for about £1 in some places: I wonder if you can find something Christmas themed?

  • Will keep an eye out for any Christmas dvds to pop in.

So tired today, so much to do but I really don't want to move!
Spent the morning doing work with DS, washer and dryer both going. DS is now playing a board game on his own, while singing his heart out to Christmas songs and getting excited because he won the game. I've got my feet up with a cuppa.
Need to get sorted cos we are supposed to be making buns for tea before I go to work.

No spending so far today. £145 Piad to Cc's yesterday. Today I've signed up for sealed pot challenge to start saving for next Christmas.

I think we are programmed to hibernate in November.

    Aw, bless!

You are more ahead with Christmas 2018 than anyone I've ever met! :D

  • Definitely feel like hibernating. It's cold and dark already and I don't start work for another 2 hours yet.

I've bagged up what was in the jar and have the 'left overs' in there to start next year off, a whole £6.07! I've also paid first payment to park for next year's vouchers so Christmas 2018 is already well budgeted for lol.

Hoping the bank will still take the bagged coins, it's been a while since I took any in.

  • Good morning. Not much to update. Lots of Christmas shopping done from the Christmas account this week, It's looking a bit sad now. Hoping the big ones want things I can get in stores as have a pile of park vouchers to use, might rethink next years vouchers as I tend to order online now.

I've got mountains of washing to do today but when i've gone to do it, nothing in the utility room works! Think it's blown a fuse somewhere but I have no idea where the plugs are in there so will have to wait for DH to get up.

Must find the energy to get cleaned up! DD1 brought friends home yesterday while I was at work and I hate that they've seen it such a tip, DD doesn't seem to care though. With 3 labs all moulting, I wonder if there's a market for fur filled cushions!?! Bet I could make 1 a day.

  • Well DH finally sorted the washer about 9 tonight, well sort of, it 's running off an extension. So now i'm trying to get school uniforms sorted for the morning, Going to be a late night. The fuse holder has disintegrated or something so needs to be replaced.

I'm sat sorting through the bank and watching Netfl!x. If anyone has anything recommended to watch as I haven't a clue and currently watching rubbish. DD is still crying because she doesn't want to go to school, she looks more and more tired as she isn't sleeping because 'morning comes around quicker'.

  • You've probably said and I've missed why doesn't she want to go to school? is it a new thing?

I can't help much on the netfl!x I'm quite boring, the only things I've actually watched and enjoyed is gilmore girls, line of duty and 13 reasons why. Total random mix :o

I love Gilmore girls though and have watched from Series 1 a few times :o

Evening HI. She hates school, she has major confidence problems and is convinced everything she does isn't good enough. She says she doesn't understand things, even when she's been shown again, she hates the noise and crowds and kids picking on each other. She has always hated it but it has been worse since taking DS out of school.

I'll admit it, I'm watching me her us. It came up on comedy as recommended!
    It's not exactly comedy!
I watched 13 reasons why in 2 nights. I've never seen Gilmore Girls, so will give that a try, thank you.
