Reclaiming money back from various payday loan companies 17th Jul 15 at 9:32 PM
Hi all just wanted to share some good news regarding payday loan companies.....
From early 2011 until mid 2014 I too was caught in the payday loan trap, all my own fault may I add, I borrow the money and in the end paid every penny back, would estimate 15000 over the years maybe 20.
Early this year I saw all the news regarding payday loan companies and irresponsible lending, unfair interest etc etc etc, so I decided to have ago and try and get a few quid back myself.
So far I have been in contact with 5 of the companies I was lending multiple loans from at the same time with many roll overs too, I have received 4 apologies and offers totalling over 5000 and the other complaint is now with the ombudsman.
I never expected these amounts back but if you too were in the same situation, get all your facts in order and get complaining, from the initial email sent I had the money back within 8 weeks.

Yes at my worst I had about 9 PD loans at the same time and I am pretty sure I didn't say the correct amount I was paying out a month

If you are saying it just became so confusing to calculate outgoings due to the sheer number of loans...then I would still escalate to the FOS

No one is looking to trip you up here, just explain things in a correct and concise manner, you will need to make separate claims to the FOS for each lender, so the sooner you get started the better, as there will be a waiting period.

    Hi,

I was just wondering for the people that have been successful in reclaiming money back from the pay day loan companies did yous have outstanding loans still to pay while trying to reclaim? I currently owe 444 on a wonga and 150 on my jar and just wanted to know do you still have to make the monthly payment at the end of the month while waiting on them getting back to you. Are you best sending a letter or email? Thanks!

I am still waiting to hear back from My Jar - got an acknowledgement email but nothing else - that was about 6 weeks ago.

Ferratum said they rejected my complaint of irresponsible lending but in a "gesture of goodwill" have written off my outstanding debt (approx. 600).

Quick quid rejected my claim - now with ombudsmen

I've had great success using resolver with:

    3000 from WDA
    1550 from myjar

    3400 from 118118

    So amazing results

My big one though was with quickquid. The Financial ombudsman adjudicator has told me he's had my business file from them finally. Can anyone give me an idea of how long a decision will be now?

    Thanks

Wow amazing results! How much were your loans for? How long did WDA take to get back to you? Thanks

Interesting reading, thank you everyone. I have hit rock bottom myself, I know I am in debt and at this moment it's payday loan after payday loan just to live. My salary keeps on top of payments, all loans paid in full or being paid but I cannot sustain it any more. I don't even know where to start to be honest. Do I issue complaints or do I speak to professionals? Do I continue to pay? I feel this post is my start to recovery but I really don't know where to begin. Any advice would be welcomed.
