For the sake of clarity, this thread is for the feedback on brand new energy supplier whose full name is:

    GREEN ENERGY SUPPLY LIMITED
    Registered number: 11042716

(formally known as: VIRGINIA ENERGY LIMITED, but they were dormant during that time)

    Website: https://green.energy

Please do not confuse with any other energy supplier with a similar sounding name
(for which there will be an alternative feedback thread)

The sole director of this new supplier appears to also manage the ofgem accredited energy comparison site SWITCH GAS AND ELECTRIC ONLINE LIMITED in his spare time

... or maybe it's the other way round

This comparison company was incorporated in December 2015

For the year ending 2017, the balance sheet indicates it owed over £50k
For the year ending 2018, the balance sheet indicates it owed over £400k

In both years, the comparison company employed an average of just 6 people.

    So am I

Outfox and Orbit are both marginally cheaper, in theory, but only by a tenner or so

Interesting, but I believe gsmlnx post of 2-3 weeks ago still applies

Ensure you are looking at the whole of market, and where applicable, check out separate suppliers.
  • We're in the process of joining them, everything going smoothly so far and phone answered quickly when I rang to ask a question - fingers crossed they are ok.

Yes, I'm using the Citizens Advice comparison tool (electricity only, no gas here). Symbio are also there, but reviews of their billing system are putting me off. It's between Outfox, Orbit and Green.

What's the difference between their Variable tariff and their Oak one? Latter is significantly cheaper than the former.
  • I've been with Green for just over a week on their Oak tariff: the switch appears to have gone smoothly. I've been using the app exclusively so far. It's both evolving quite quickly and operating well so very happy at the moment.

Looking to take the plunge here as they come up as THE cheapest. Having always had fixed rates, if they decide to make change in price on a variable rate, im assuming they will notify you in advance?

Also what's the situation here with smart meter rollout?
