Oh god yes, I made the mistake of buying the M's version once of 'yeast extract', and it was really horrible, and pretty much unspreadable
Other items I don't skimp on:-
Tea bags
Vodka
Meat. I'm weird about Meat though tbh. I never buy value cheaper cuts, no value brands of anything with meat inThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -

Marmite
Hotel Chocolat - hot chocolate drink (me)
Real coffee (hubby)
Tunnocks Caramel Wafers
Doritos cheese flavoured crisps ( plain can have own brands).
I make most foods from scratch including pizzas, pasta sauces, chutneys and tomato ketchup. Tend to buy most of our meat from the butcher or farm.
Clarin's day and night cream
L'occataine shampoo and conditioner and L'Or!al shampoo and conditioner.
Always ultra panty liners. Can use cheaper versions of other pad for monthly but not for the liner. Cheaper alternatives - the glue comes off onto my knickers!!!!Save 12K in 2026 no 16

Not brands but we buy almost only organic fruit and veg these days. Mostly we get seasonal British through box schemes and farmers markets so they aren't much more expensive than regular stuff. If we can't go organic on something we check the "dirty dozen and clean fifteen" list online and if what we want is in the dirty dozen list we go without and find an alternative.
Also only organic milk in glass bottles (from the milkman) to make homemade yogurt. Works out half the price than shop-bought organic yogurt. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Clarin's day and night cream

I didn’t fess up about my toiletry habit in my earlier post, I thought we were just doing household stuff (plus I’m a little ashamed:o).
I do have a terrible expensive habit for make-up, skin care & toiletries:eek:
I love L’Occtaine for the ultra rich Shea & the almond body range, love the almond shower oil especially. Love the hand creams too.
Not tried the shampoo and conditioner - are they very smelly? I like strongly fragranced ones
Love Elemis toiletries too.
For shampoo and conditioner, I like Paul Mitchell & Phillip Kingsley best.
I’m a bit of a brand tart, I love them all0 -
Meat has to be from decent suppliers but often cheaper cuts and bargains
Tomato soup has to be Heinz
We buy good cheese and preserves but again go cannyOne day I might be more organised...........

Funny how a lot of these are the same!
Comfort fabric conditioner
Yorkshire Tea
Nescafe Gold decaffeinated instant coffee
Fairy washing up liquid
Stock cubes
Bisto gravy powder
Birds custard powder
I like Lidl own dishwasher tablets and their premium plum tomato soup. I also prefer their porridge and long grain rice to some brands. Have never found a supermarket own washing powder that I would switch to though.0
