Yes a Howdens kitchen quote

Options
Don't know enough to know if this is a reasonable quote or not. £5400 for a fairly basic shaker kitchen but with fancy solid oak worktop and a bit of breakfast bar and a ceramic sink. No appliances.

Magnet came in at a similar price, DIY kitchens claim £3500 but whether I'm good enough to figure them out I'm not sure. Waiting on benchmarx and B&Q (who oddly don't do sage anyway).

People always say you have to haggle heavily with Howdens, but on the other hand if they have given me a fair quote you don't wan't to be unpleasantly pushy....

First number is their claimed percentage discount I think. Second number the price.

Any thoughts? Many thanks.

It could be better. Discounts are less than 70% on units, so they can definitely move.

Price matching is what you want to look at. Print off your DIY kitchens quote and take it to them. I did the same with a Fairford after being offered worse prices than yours - and we've held and account for 15 years. I feel vindicated now as we got them to 85%.

The others may not be producing sage anymore because, well, fashion. :o.

Thank for the reply. We have now got them down to just over £4000, though we are buying the pewter handles ourselves saving £50, but added a gas hob.

We did get quote from benchmarx and b&q after which they knocked a bit off but also always had a reason why their kitchen design was not comparable to theirs...

Now wondering whether we are brave enough to use worktops-express for the worktops instead and save a couple of hundred. We will see.

Otherwise still have no idea if we are getting a good deal. I can see why oak worktops cost money but seems plenty for a row of mdf flatpack cupboards. But perhaps I am just our of touch...

    Thanks
