I'm now looking to move on from NatWest, but the only Bank left open for me to apply seems to be M&S. I'm only hesitant because the gift card doesn't really appeal to me at all.

If there is nothing about the account that appeals to you then why would you bother? You can keep the account with NatWest until a better offer comes along; you don't have to keep switching for the sake of switching.

You could always sell or swap the gift card, e.g Zeek, mentioned by Martin on occasions., a few more here.

I had a call back from the complaints team this morning. They said that all outstanding payments were made in a batch payment one day towards the end of last week. She checked and confirmed again that I was eligible and just said I must have slipped through the net. She apologised and paid £125 into my account almost immediately. So if anybody is still waiting I'd definitely recommend calling again.

I phoned again and was told that a complaint specialist (who wrote the letter apologising and saying I'd be paid by the 27th April) would call me back later in the day but this did not happen. I just need want to get the £125 to which I'm entitled plus compensation. Maybe I should at this stage just go to the Ombudsman. I'm fed up of chasing this further with the bank.

Is it ok to close a Natwest account a few months after opening it? I opened one in January, got the switching money in April. I no longer need the account. Would rather not keep it dormant as it's another account to keep track of when I already have several, and I'm looking to reduce that number.

    Yes.

Is it worth holding on to so that you have an available account ready for a future switching offer?

Has anyone still not had their bonus yet?

I phoned again today. I have had nothing but the run around. Today, the guy asked me if I switched DDs, I told him DDs were not a requirement per the terms. He then said I hadn't switched, which I know is a lot of !!!!!!!! because I switched as part of the online application process.

He asked what account I switched from. To be quite honest, I was doing a few switches at the time from different accounts. In hindsight, I should probably have kept a copy of my application but I have never had the hassle I have had with Natwest. I will be doing in future though.

Anyway, should he be even asking me that? The account was on the form so they should have those details?

Does anyone know how best to proceed here. I have had nothing but the runaround for weeks on this and only now are they trying to make out I am not eligble.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

You really need to go back and check your facts really carefully. Work out exactly which account you switched to NatWest and make sure the switch actually happened.

If you are not entirely sure yourself then it doesn't help you make your case to NatWest.

And there is no point spending hours trying to get them to pay up if it turns out you made a mistake.

During my switch to NatWest, I received 4 emails from them as follows: (1) Welcome to your new account, (2) Your current account switch has started, (3) Your regular payments have all been transferred and (4) Done and dusted. Your current account has been fully switched.

If you haven't received these then it is likely that there was no switch.

You'll need to check the accounts you think you have switched to see if they have all been closed.

Yes just check your list of transactions in your NatWest account and you'll see the balance being transferred over from the switch that should give you a clue which account it was
