Noticed this when copy and pasting, and from quite a few posts, it makes some posts hard, if not impossible to read then all you see is !!!8217; all the way through

Don't you mean it hasn't been forgotten, but we are in no rush to fix it?
If this isn't true then what are you actually doing about an issue that has been around for months?0 -
Hi eschaton
Our developers cover the whole site, not just the Forum and have several other bigger tasks they're working on at the moment. It is in the backlog though and they're aware of it.Could you do with a Money Makeover?

I think we are ALL aware of it.
At least we now know that it isn't a priority.0 -
It's getting worse.
A post I did last year, about censoring the acute accent, which at the time had only one of the two acute accents censored. The Polish city of !!!321;!d!!!378; appears in a news story today, but of course anyone spelling it properly on here will see it censored.
Odd that MSE censors some letters with the acute accent, but not all.
Where do you think that place might be?0 -
Glance over lots of posts filled with numbers and apostrophes, as do a lot of would-be helpful forumites I suspect.
Been going on since the beginning of the year OP so don't hold your breath.0 -
So cant these posters see this, so why do they press send?0

Nope - it doesn't show.
A wile back I copy and pasted some text into a post (using Firefox on my W10PC)
It didn't show any nonsense till after I posted it.
I went back and edited the post, but still it inserted the rubbish in there.
Go figure?
The more worrying thing is that the 'tech team' are working on more important things behind the scenes ........... what disaster will that be?? :rotfl:0 -
Hi folks
Are you *only* seeing this happen when you copy and paste text into the Forum? Ie are posts you've written directly into the posting window ok?

See my post 6 above.
The forum has altered my quoted earlier post, from June last year.
At that time a year ago I was adding a new comment to chat about the acute accent censorship, noting that not all accents were censored. O was, but z was not.
The first letter of that place name is L with a sloping bar through it. Omitting all the accents it would say Lodz, which is coincidentally how sports reporters have mispronounced it.
I can remember looking at that old post since a year ago, and it was still ok then, but can't remember exactly when.
But anyway, the main point is it was ok for a while, from originally copied in, but now is not.
On recent posts which convert apostrophe and inverted commas to those exclamations and numbers, it happens either when self-typed or copied. Sometimes it is possible to edit the post and correct them, sometimes not.0
