Home business insurance help!

Options
Morning,

I was wondering if you all could help me as I can't find a solid answer online!

My fianc!e and I have just bought our first house and he runs his small business from home. Due to the nature of his business he imports his products from China (solid metal, no batteries, moving parts etc) and we're struggling to find a company to insure him for home business. All he has is the stock and his laptop. Direct Line have already said they won't cover him.

So I have two questions:

- do we need to get normal house and contents insurance then a separate policy for small home business insurance on top?
- can anyone recommend an insurer for small home business insurance that they know might cover him if the products come from China?

Thanks.

See if a local broker (not Swinton) can help get you properly covered

Does he have insurance at present for where he carries out this business?

What are the products? That might be more problematic than where they come from.

Are you looking for public and products liability for the imports, or just stock cover?

Stock cover will be easy for a broker (not Swinton) to arrange, PL/Prods cover for imports from china will be harder to place.
