how much cash do you carry on average?

We take £100 out and put in a jar for milk, bread etc from the local shop. I do sometimes have cash but end up emptying my purse to give hubby work cash. At the moment there is 26p in my purse!

I'm going the other way to most, I'm moving towards cash and away from card.

Big purchases and petrol are put on card. I draw £80 or of the bank on Friday and that has to last me until the next Thursday night. That's for my big food shop, lunches at work, any nights out, presents, cosmetics, takeaways, everything, etc etc. If I didn't do this this way I'd overspend massively! My income has dropped by ¼ since this time last year so I have to be really careful. I'd fritter it away if used cards for everyday purchases. Just helpful knowing what I have in my purse has to last me till Thursday night. If I go out on the weekend and do a big shop on Sunday sometimes I have to survive the week on £15 so its boring old sandwiches work rather than a lovely baked potato from the cafe on the corner.

I would imagine that for those who live and work in a city/major town, being cashless is a more practical proposition.

For those of us who live in areas with poor/unreliable mobile signals and/or broadband, cash is still needed on a regular basis.
For example, around here, cash is still needed for car park machines, bus fares, local taxi, window cleaner etc. Card payment/payment via app is not an option.
While stores belonging to national chains do accept cards without extra charges, smaller stores/services often have a minimum transaction value or make an additional charge if they accept cards at all.

I carry a few pounds at a time in my wallet, I almost always carry my debit and credit card with me in a wallet of cards. I sometimes use contactless by swiping my card over the machine, but always insist on a receipt so that I can check it off on my paper bank statement.

Can someone advise me, as I'm new to the site, how to start completing surveys. I have subscribed as a result of reading a recent Metro newspaper advert in the Money section.
