waterproofing bird box?

I've tried to renovate my old wooden bird box, my son made it about 10 years ago so would love to keep it in use. have given it a good clean and sand down,what would be the best thing to paint it with to weatherproof it please?

I painted mine with either culprinol garden paint or Johnstones garden paint

You could use culprinol ducksback cheaper but less colours
or wilkos own brand paint like like culpronol garden shades0 -
You can get special wildlife friendly paint. It doesn't off-gas, or something, and so doesn't affect the chicks while they're in the box. I don't know if it's one of those 'the ordinary product is fine, but this one is proven to do what's claimed' situations or not.0
