Royal mail item lost my item sent

Royal mail item lost my item sent 18th Oct 19 at 11:15 AM
A buyer has contacted me saying an item I sent on the 4th has still not arrived. I have a certificate of postage and the item sold for 6.99 and I paid 3 postage. As this has never happened before will the royal mail refund the buyer as its not my fault ? Ebay have also charged me a fee on this sale which I need back if it doesn't turn up.

Should I ask the buyer to give it longer ?

You are the person that needs to claim for the lost mail with Royal Mail and then you would need to refund the buyer.

If you click on "track a parcel" on RM website and put in the long number on your cert of posting it will tell you if it has been delivered or not even if it not tracked.

It also will tell you if they've attempted to deliver it but not been able to.

You should have put the number into ebay as soon as it was posted. I would do it straight away to cover yourself if it isn't too late

Its a requirement that the number is entered into ebay when it is sent and not after the estimated delivery time. It would seem that ebay will side with the buyer here. But plead ignorance and give ebay the number with proof of delivery. For such a small amount they might just refund the buyer themselves you never know.

OP add the tracking ref to both the order and the non-receipt case.

Your choice is to refund or let eBay decide.

As the others have said they do want you to upload the ref before the ETA but if you call them they may close in your favour.

If they close in the buyers favour you will get a seller unresolved mark on your account but as you now know to upload the tracking ref before the ETA you shouldn't have this problem again and the defect is not the end of the world in my view (assuming you haven't had any other cases decided against you).

The other thing eBay may do is cover the cost themselves.
