Indian Share

Hi
I came across an Indian company and am intrigued at the idea of investing in it. My broker is willing to do it for 1% FX transfer and circa £50 Commission plus whatever purchase taxes are applied by the Indian/UK Revenue Services.
I was wondering if anyone has done direct investment in an Indian company and could give me details of any purchase taxes and other tax traps and any other experiences of pitfalls. I have browsed portfolios of funds/trusts in India focused funds but haven't found any that have it as a top 10 holding in their portfolio.
The choice is done on environmental grounds :) if it seems strange and awfully complex scenario  to choose.

Any help really appreciated :T

Which company is it? Does it have a US listed ADR? If so, it might be easier and cheaper to invest in it this way.

Was thinking exactly the same. What is the company's name OP?

Dalmia Bharat specialising in the cement field is the company I'm interested in. Sum concerned is under 5K.

https://www.bloomberg.com/quote/DALBHARA:IN is the company as it acquired Dalmia Bharat but as you'll see on the Bloomberg page, it includes the legacy name.

Nothing came up on ADRs for Dalbhara but thanks for the idea.
