First Anniversary First Post Xmas Saver!
I’m having trouble keeping up now!

GYD I’m so sorry to hear about your mum. Like MURIE says, words don’t really say enough at times like these but it looks like you’re both going to make the most of all the time you have. The bedroom is a lovely idea.

I used to read all the time right from when I was a child but the past few years I seem to have got out of the habit. I keep promising myself I’ll read a book every month (not exactly taxing for someone who can sit and read a book in a day if I’m left alone) but I just don’t do it so I think that’ll be my challenge to myself and also my treat. I love police procedural novels (used to love Ed McBain) and a good who dunnit is hard to beat for me (also love Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle and my favourite, the Cadfael books by Ellis Peters) although I like a good chick lit too (Marian Keyes). I don’t really like romance although I’ll read it if it’s not too gushy, in your face or explicit. I’ve not found a ‘physical’ scene in a romance novel yet that hasn’t made me cringe. NIC I’ll have a look at Verity and also After the Crash 3FORHOLIDAYS. MRSINVIS maybe you can share the titles of any you find to be really good.

Lovely to see everyone posting. As soon as anything interesting happens to me I’ll join in more!
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

thanksGTQ, for the heads up, that happened to her 18 months ago, 2 4 hour trips in 24 hours was no joke. This is a review, and a recalibration and download of info from the cpap machine. We live in the sticks so all specialist appointments are miles away, however, our wonderful NHS system is free and total and the staff are so dedicated and pleasant that it is worthwhile getting the help DD, DS2 and DGS need. I got back this evening from taking/ staying with dear friend who had her back surgery this morning. She is fine, in only moderate pain and planned for discharge tomorrow. She will stay with me for a week or so until she can cope at home or until she gets sick of me parping about.
I know l fell asleep on the train journey back, and l believe l may have entertained the carriage with my snoring, but, hey ho, they don't know me and l don't know them, so who cares. I think I can hear a single malt calling my name, it would be rude to ignore it, so..... mmmm just perfect.
Peppa, I loved the Cadfael novels too.Currently reading Frozen Grave by Lee Weeks really good. And Ian Rankin In a house of lies, also agood read.

In other news, I lost 6lbs this week :j
I had been doing slimming world in last few months (back on old green and red plans) I was loosing slowly, but kept cheating. So I decided to try Intermittent fasting along with SW. I’ve been doing it almost 2 weeks, and feeling a huge difference. I have loads more energy and my jeans feel a lot looser. Finding it a lot easier than I thought too. I basically fast for 16 hrs then there’s 8 hours I can eat. I usually stop eating around 6pm or 7pm then I just have a black coffee and water until my break at work.

Well done Nic.It makes you feel so much better when you eat better so why don't we do it! I need to join you on the getting some weight off.I have put about 2 stone on since last october.I am scared to get on the scales.

Mrs I,Mr v has a "snoring machine".He has had a new one this month which will be maintained remotely.Perhaps they will roll them out everywhere eventually.

Peppa I always enjoy your posts.Don't wait for something exciting to happen before you do.

So,drawers given another coat.Still needs another.I don't dislike the colour but it isn't what I expected.

Forgot to say I also got an orange silk scarf the other day for £1 so my haul came to £12.

Hair dyed.Nails painted.going to the travel agent shortly to see whats about.

Mrs I- I second your words on the NHS, they (on the whole) do a wonderful job! A few hours spent in A&E the other day confirmed that.

Nic- go you! thats a fab weight loss! You've obviously found the way that works for you now x

Phew- yesterday was certainly no 'breeze' was it? The garden pots were blown all over the place (big heavy ones at that). we had rain and massive hail stones at times too. Thankfully its forecast to be calmer today and Ive had a peep at next weeks forecast and its supposed to be nice again at the weekend (fingers crossed). Hope everyone managed to stay upright in the face of Storm Hannah xx.

No plans for today, I've woken up with a niggle of a headache so its going to be a nice quiet day Chez Murie (famous last words)...:rotfl:

  • I have been awol for a while on here but I am back now. Situation is still going on but someone else is being targeted now so hopefully something will be sorted. Not a lot of Christmas stuff done which isn't like me at all. My aunt is nearly finished and I haven't really started.

I think the self care idea is great, I don't think people think about 'me time' when I was receiving counselling it came up and its quite common for people not to treat themselves or take time out just for them.

My parents are downsizing this year so Christmas will be in a new place this year. it looks likes its all change for my family.

WOW guys, this thread has stormed forward since I last popped on.

Still all go with hospital appts. Have had my preop for my foot operation so should be done in the next 6-8 weeks. I have bought a little scooter that takes the weight of my bad leg, uses my good leg to propel which stops the crutches putting extra pressure on my joints. I have been diagnosed with a connective tissue disease. Myself, my DD, my sister and mum all have varying symptoms. My mum is quite bad at the moment with parts of her spine suffering with spinal cord compression and Cauda Equina crowding.

Free- The original operation has provided some relief but still not mobile. Hope you and your family are all doing well.
Vulpix- so lovely to see you back on here. I can not even begin to imagine what you must of been through but if you ever fancy a spinal chat please give me a shout xxx Or you want me to show you my nifty scooter LOL How did you enjoy Bury market, I have not been for ages due to my mobility. Selfcare challenge sounds amazing.
Peppa- thanks for the message, a new Grandbaby in July. that is so exciting and what a lovely age gap. You all must be so excited.
Nic2075- Dance must keep you all busy, but I bet it is very rewarding. Bless your DD for worrying about letting the adults down, what a lovely caring young lady you are raising. I am sure she is amazing and will knock everybodys socks off. fantastic weight loss
Chrissyg- so sorry to hear you are leaving, best wishes to you and your family xx
Princesskitty29-Hope things are better with Wiggle and did you manage you shopping trip alone? Christmas with your family sounds amazing, you must be so excited. We are trying to decide what to do for Christmas this year as there have been so many changes. My stepsister has moved out, we have moved into a huge house and mine and my mums mobility is getting worse so may try and do something here.
kerrigt- sorry to hear about your bereavement
3forholidays-norfolk sounds lovely. we have no holiday booked yet due to my foot operation looming but may do something last minute in the holidays
Murie- your easter wreath making sounds fun and my brother has artificial grass in his garden and it looks amazing.
Mrs I- wow I struggle to keep one plant alive so I take my hat off to you.hope your dds appt goes ok tomorrow and the drive is ok for you.
GIYD-So sorry to hear the news about your mum. Sounds like a great idea about your mum moving in with you and your DS, lots of spending time together.
TreasureQueen-Hope things finally get sorted out now. There are lots of us going through changes at Christmas due to circumastances making things differ. It will be interesting to see if we can help each other come up with new ideas.

Phew, sorry if I have forgotten anybody, not interntional but I wanted to try and catch up before the thread rattles onward again
    Much love to all.
Im off for some of the kids leftover easter chocolate (sshhh dont tell them) and a brew.

0462 Hope that you are not waiting too long for the operation and hopefully you might get away for a short break. :)
A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

Treasurequeen- hopefully the situation will be sorted sooner rather than later if two individuals are being targetted (its a horrible situation x).

046...hope you enjoyed the cheeky chocolate and brew xx. Fingers crossed the op is soon and that everything else is sorted out xx.

Quiet day for me today have to wait in for deliveries and I have the house to myself for a change- woohoo!!
