They had no central heating or hot water on tap

A lot had coal fires (more than one per house) and a lot of them stank.

Myboiler is more than 35 years old and I live on contribution basedESA as i am unable to work due to Rheumatoid Arthritis, a condition requiring warmth to keep it under control. You would think that with such a medical condition, I would qualify for a free or heavily discounted boiler, but I don’t , because it is only those on income relatedESA who get it. I was moved onto contribution based ESAfrom incapacity Benefit without having any voice in the matter. So whycan’t all those suffering from an illness/disease like this be allowed to participate in this scheme? Does the government think that living on £140 weekly with no discounts//extra handouts/grants makes me rich enough not to need it? My boiler has now given up the ghost completely and I have had to borrow from my 87 year old mother to help me pay out almost £3,400 to replace it.
  • E-ON are replacing my ancient boiler soon but they have mentioned the radiators are very old and inefficient too as they are single panel. I have MS and my house is cold, looking on EPC the rating is E, are there grants to help towards replacing the radiators or draught proofing?

Try your energy supplier first - then your local authority
also loft insulation and pipework will be covered
