Anyone used the Skyscanner app discount from this weeks Top Tips email?

Hello all,
I was just curious if anyone took advantage of the £5 discount on train tickets when using the Skyscanner app, as mentioned in the MSE email.
I booked a train via the app, got the discount, but, noticed it was handled by trip.com.
Unfortunately, I can no longer go on this journey and contacted trip.com via my booking confirmation email. The rather blunt phone operator informed me that they don't change tickets and if I wanted to cancel it, I would have to pay £40 on top of the £23 train ticket I already bought.

Does anyone have any experience with successful refunds via Skyscanner or Trip.com ?
Thanks in advance !

Most ticket retailers would charge a £10 fee to refund a ticket, so in your case you would expect to get £13 back. It seems that trip.com do not behave like most train ticket retailers. Maybe you will have to write off the £13 which you won't get back.

After much searching online and reading of their policies, it appears that you may be correct.
