Viagogo - Bunch of absolute chancers

Options
I'm not normally one to start threads slamming things like companies and what not. Just been asked by a friend to look at sourcing some tickets for a gig. Ended up on Viagogo, the price was confirmed at £174 per ticket. Massively above face value, but hey, if someone wants it enough, they'll pay. Get to the payment screen which is a very high pressure screen with warning messages about 'competing buyers' and 'we can only hold the tickets for a short time, so be quick'...... The final total wasn't clear at all, it was positioned awkwardly down a thin column on the left hand side and actually obscured by something else, but I wasn't willing to click pay until I had a final total..... so I scoured the page very carefully and eventually found it.

Wow, just wow. Service fees, booking fees, coffee fees, summer party tax, champagne to celebrate while laughing at the customer tax, VAT not included in the original ticket price. £500 the final price. What a disgrace. £174 to go to a concert is already too much but then add almost another £150 on? Horrendous. How do these sites continue to get away with it? Suppose there's no real appetite for change apart from those getting shafted. Everyone is lining everyone elses pockets.

Told the friend not to bother.

Just Googled Viagogo and found this article and it seems this 16 year old had a similar experience but wasn't quite as diligent as myself. Awful situation for the girl to find herself in.

Apparently the service and booking fees are to ensure a good service and no fake tickets.... Right:

Furthermore, it's suggested they don't even have the tickets they claim to sell:

Genuinely, how do they get away with it? You have to wonder how their employees sleep at night. Some people wake up and go and do good for the world. Solve scientific problems. Develop cures for diseases. These guys run a company that should have been shut down long ago. Hopefully they sleep with the worry and fear that tomorrow is the day karma finally catches up with them and teaches them a good old fashioned lesson.
