Internet Booking Error

I attempted to book a chalet for the weekend. The internet crashed during the processing period. I waited a couple of days and nothing happened. No confirmation was sent to my email and my credit card was not debited.


A few days later, the same thing happened again. Several days later the payment had still not been debited and there was never any booking confirmation sent.


Eventually, I gave up and booked a hotel. This morning, six days after the initial booking, both payments were deducted from my credit card. The accommodation is 300 miles away and the booking commences tomorrow. There is no way that I can get there or fill the chalets. The booking details are exactly the same on both bookings but the holiday company are refusing to refund the money/reverse the transactions. What do I do?


There has never been any kind of correspondence with the company. No booking confirmation or room confirmation has ever been sent to my email address.
