Indoor cats or secure outdoor runs/ catios are recommended in many parts of the US for the cats safety (too many vehicles and wild predators). Some health issues or temperament issues mean a UK cat might be best homed indoors (eg. blind/ deaf/ FIV/ nervous/ a physical disability).

But indoor cats must be properly entertained and stimulated: read/ watch anything from Jackson Galaxy for details. :D

Another time please consider adopting a young cat that a rescue recommends should be indoor only, rather than buying a healthy kitten. There are too few quality indoor homes like yours for the number of rescue cats needing just such a match.

One gorgeous playful FIV boy I have my eye on as a companion for my nervous, arthritic girl has been waiting several years! :( He is not in a local rescue: most around my area PTS all FIV cats due to lack of appropriate homes.

You can find independent rescues and a wide variety of rescue cats on Purrsinourhearts website (also amazing toys, all profits to charity).
