I have Prime membership and was thinking of downloading the Twitch app, but are the games all fighting and strategy ? Being of the older generation, I prefer puzzle games and adventures without battles.0

Some of them are free games, some of them are free in game items.
Twitch itself is indeed meant as a platform for people to broadcast their streams though.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Most of the recent awards of Twitch Prime seem kinda lame to me, past 2-3 months are flooded with PUBg caches and indie games on their own platfrom. literally nothing remotely interesting0
