Section 75 on an interest free credit agreement
Options
Hi,
I'm buying a new sofa, and have paid the deposit on a credit card. I'm wondering if I should put the remainder of the balance on an interest free credit agreement, or just pay it in full.
My thoughts are that if I have an agreement, ill have section 75 cover for the duration of the agreement. Can anyone clarify if this is the case?
Thanks
James

The card will give you s75.
If the further credit is directly linked to the sofa, then that would also apply. It's not for the duration of the agreement though - it's for the duration of a valid claim.0 -
Thanks for the reply zx81. Sorry it took a while to get back to you.
How would I determine the duration of the claim? and would the duration be different for the card or interest free credit?

It's determined by the purchase. Section 75 gives you the same rights as with the retailer.
So you may have a claim against a defective car or a warranty for some months or years.
Holidays or foodstuffs would have a much shorter duration.
Your sofa purchase would depend on the claims made the manufacturer and your contract with rhem.0
