Sky Q increase and contract

Good evening
I'm sorry if this has already been asked.
I have recently upgraded to sky Q in March with I think a 18 month contract.
From July though they are going to nearly double the price of my contract. What I have done in the past is cancel my account and then been offered a discount which is 50% or more and carried this on for a year.
Am I able to do this again or am I locked into this contract and will I have to pay this huge increase in price?
Many thanks in advance for any help given :T

Why do you think they're going to nearly double the price of your contract 4 months in?0

Because I'm paying £49 now and my bill in July is going up to £97. I usually renew every July but not sure if it makes a difference that I've just recently upgraded to sky Q and not sure if this means my contract starts from then for the next 18 months. Thanks for your help0

Although you can leave a phone/broadband contract penalty free , if the company puts those prices up, I don't think this applies to TV providers , so if you are within a minimum term with Sky Q , and Sky put TV prices up, they are under no obligation to offer you a reduction in price if you call and ask for one.
If you leave Sky Q within term , they probably apply early termination charges.
TBH , the price increase you quote seems far more than an 'inflation' rise, are you sure it's just not the expiry of some sort of introductory offer0 -
Every July I renegotiate a new deal by cancelling and then accepting a 50% or better offer so I'm guessing I sign up for a 12 month offer each time. I just wasn't sure if this was different now I have sky Q and the equipment belongs to sky. When I upgraded in March to sky Q does that then begin a new 18 month contract or does it just continue the existing one which runs out in July? Many thanks0

I think Sky have a 10% limit on the TV where you can leave early although in practise they'd never do this.Because I'm paying £49 now and my bill in July is going up to £97. You need to contact Sky, as far as I'm aware anyone upgrading to Q will be in an 18 month contract so something doesn't seem right.0 -

By upgrading to sky Q you have started a new 18 month contract. You can contact them to try negotiate a deal but they will probably not give you one, as you can't "threaten to cancel", as you still have 14ish months left on your Q contract which will have overwritten the 12 month deal you negotiated.
When you upgrade to q, sky let you carry over any promotional discounts you have, but only for the term that was remaining, then the price goes back up to standard like you describe.
The trick is either to negotiate a sky q upgrade deal when negotiating to cancel, or to negotiate a sky hd deal and then soon after upgrade to sky q, to maximise the discount during your "minimum term"
I suspect you upgraded quite late into your promotional 12 months so now I think you'll probably be stuck at full price for a while....but try call them and see how you fare, its worth a shot.0 -

It would be interesting to hear what they say.
I suppose the OP would also have the option of reducing the sky hd deal to the minimum requirement if they did not get a reduction.0
