    Evening

£9.19 matched betting today. Have made back my annual fee now and so will start counting what I make again.

I recently signed up for solar panels. They were fitted this week and we are now generating our own electricity. I was sceptical like a lot of people but having looked into it I am sure we will be saving quite a bit. Probably won't be adding anything to this challenge from it for the time being at least as the savings will be paying for the panels for a while but still think it will be worth while. Watch this space.

Had a couple of other things to add but forgotten what they are so will check back tomorrow ...err today!

Mills, that's a trek to your bank, have you tried your local Post Office? my local bank closed due to being in a rural area and the Post Office accepts cash and cheques deposited using my debit card for the transaction, all free :T

Ooh thanks I didn't know that. I bank with nationwide so I hope I can use the post office... they don't have many branches! Ironic haha

I'm with Nationwide too and also have a long car trip to my nearest branch:(. Like you, I live in a very rural area although from what you've mentioned it isn't quite as rural as yours. I never need to visit an actual branch though, apart from paying in the very occasional cheque that I receive. I just download their paying in form from the website and post it off to the Swindon head office address that's on it together with the cheque/s. Even sent 1st class it's a massive saving on the cost of petrol visiting a branch:j. Only adds an extra day or two to the clearance time and well worth it for the time saved in actually going there.
  • Sorry, I wasn't around much yesterday. Looks like some new members have joined us. Welcome to one and all and good luck with your moneymaking:beer:

Had a nightmare few hours trying to successfully download and install a 'critical' Microsoft update that wouldn't install automatically. Had to have a few goes to get it to install manually, each one taking so long. I must have been faffing about for about 4 hours altogether:mad:. Seems OK now though:j

Had all sorts of probs yesterday with a Prolific study I was part way through. It was such an interesting one too, scheduled to take about 35 minutes for £3.50 so well worth it. Sadly, with all my laptop issues I ended up timed out:mad:. I've contacted the researcher but haven't heard back yet. I'm not expecting to be paid as only completed about half of it:(. Studes have been a bit sparse lately and I was hoping to get to another £20+ payout before the end of the month. Doubt it will happen now:(

Ooh I didn't know you could post the cheques to pay them in. I'm going to do that from now on :)

  • Lynne, when I was trying to get that massive update downloaded and installed I thought of you and when you told us about one that Microsoft contacted you about to make an appointment to download/upgrade. I recall that was a big one. I was fully expecting having to contact Microsoft to see if they could come up with a solution but, fingers crossed, it righted itself eventually. All I got, for 40 minutes on one try was the spinning 'thingy' and the message ' don't turn off your computer'. It just looked as if nothing was happening and it had got 'stuck':(

I don't like Windows 10 much, I'm still getting to grips with all its functions, and only upgraded because Windows 7 was supposed to be much more risky security-wise and they were stopping support for it. I had plenty of problems with that version over the years but I was always able to fix things myself eventually:j. I never know where to find the info I want on Win 10 but that's probably just me as I'm not very techie:o
