Yes you could but why would you want to copy a Blu-ray disc to a blank Blu-ray disc? There is little point in doing this.

Only to try for tech reasons no specific necessity.
Card from p.o. today could be collecting writer Sat morning.
Haven't go any blue ray movies yet-could try a dvd to ensure it's working.

Everything you copy or watch later on will be DVD quality anyway so probably best to stick to DVD's :)

Where are you going to store this data? Have you at least a USB 3.0 external HDD?

I have one or two freebie dvd movies fromSky store/
Possible try a simple dvd copy tomorrow.
Funny as I think the only blank disks I have stored are CD's
Best. I get writer installed and powered up before ordering disks
External hdd could be in.a few weeks

Your great at ignoring the question of why you want to copy a blu-ray disk to a writeable blu-ray disc, as everyone has said there is no point.

Not going as planned at all

    Unable to play dvd movie
Either going to be driver prob or power type fault think.
Haven't bothered with purchasing another powered hub
]have tried 1 or 2 drivers including editing win10 reg.
No joy as yet, quite interesting though.
Meanwhile I hope to get access to a desktop to rule out laptop low power possibility.
With vlc there were similar error messages from a few years ago, iv'e tried latest and past vlc's

Why are you using a hub? Plug the drive directly into the computer. It will likely work. Windows will have the required drivers built in.

Asus doc mentiones Y cable -one for usb one for Power
The writer only had a single usb cable not Y dual cable.
A powered usb hub could provide anough power to allow discs to spin correctly..

Sometimes laptops don't provide enough power via usb -unlike desktops
I ran a similar powered usb hub
setup with a macbook/AirPort Extreme/ external HDD which worked.

The previous Advent 7 ports usb hub I had used quotes:-
It is powered by a 5 V adaptor which helps to provide extra power, making it ideal for charging your hardware and mobiles via US
