My mother had this the other way round a few years ago - on the eve of exchange, her vendor raised the price substantially.
Over the course of a couple of days, the price fell to below the original agreement - and still she walked. The house eventually sold for a lot less than the original agreement, and she's now very happy in a much better property...

Personally I wouldn't sell to them if they offered 6k over the agreed price.
Such a shame that there is no law in place to prevent such prickish behaviour like that with regards to property sales.0 -

Well the buyer has come up again to another 2k

I just feel sorry to the neighbour because if you can carry off like this imagine what he would be like to live too if there was ever a boundary issue etc0 -

Tell the Estate Agent they've 24 hours to meet the agreed selling price or you are going to remarket the property.0
