Asbestos

Hello Forum
My farther has been diagnosed with an Asbestos related lung condition.
The Dr has indicated we may have a claim however how do you find a reputable Solicitor who is a specialist in this area not an no win no fee ambulance chaser?
Any advice appreciated.

sorry if posted in wrong area.

Name Dropper First Post First Anniversary I've been Money Tipped!
I think a relative of ours used Slater & Gordon who are specialists in this area and have successfully pursued a large number of claims. I believe they may be based in Watford but probably have other offices if you Google them.

The claim involved a lot of memory delving into possible employers and locations where long term exposure to asbestos could have taken place going right back to childhood, like schools, youth clubs, guide or scout huts as well as employers' buildings and occupational work like builders, decorators, fire officers, demolition crews etc who were exposed to asbestos on a regular basis as a result of their work, down to the washing of working clothes where fibres could be regularly inhaled.

One of the problems is that this disease often takes many years to manifest itself and asbestos was a regular component of so many buildings before its dangers were really recognised.

In certain cases surgery can enhance and prolong life. If the disease is mesothelioma, I believe Leicester infirmary is one of the centres of medical excellence. Ask your father to get his GP to check out specialist medical centres for the best advice and treatment. I wish him well.

Wow this is interesting news, I always wondered why in the past why there was nothing to be done.

    Dad has mesothelioma
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?
  • My husband has been diagnosed with a similar condition. He tried to go through Unison as my son is a member but they were unable to help. The solicitors that they use isThomsons Law who offered to take my husband's case on a 'no win, no fee' basis. It is still ongoing atm but he is also applying for the Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit but he needs to see an assessor first.

This is all new to us as he's worked all his life and we have never claimed for anything but a client of mine told us about the scheme. Nothing to loose by trying...
