  • Hey there!

Yes I totally agree with you and I do fear that I may blow the lot so I'm not 100% sure yet but I'm swaying on upping my payments and clear the full balance otherwise it's never going to go down and I got myself into this situation so I shouldn't be trying to take the easy way out!

The lodger has moved on - I asked them to leave that night which was very very very hard but it had to be done. I feel like a cow as its family but I'm hoping in the long run I am cruel to be kind and it gets them really trying to get back on their feet. It's just horrible to watch at the moment though.. But yes, I grew a backbone!

  • So today I have upped my repayment on the £7k debt from £50 to £500 and I feel more positive that I am actually starting to do something with clearing my debt rather than pretending I want it cleared but yet not 100%n putting my money (ha ha) where my mouth is. This will mean I shall be debt free by April 2015 (Yay!) I can then focus on saving for a house depoit which would be lovely!!

Lodger has gone officially as per last post but relationship is still tense :-(

  • I have taken the time to read to read through my diary from the beginning to the end today and I am absolutely gutted. This year I have achieved absolutely nothing at all and have just been going out partying spending too much money. I'm not even saving money from the second job and the only positive thing to have done is paying for some new education to retrain myself which will enable me to increase my salary and to help pay back debts quicker.
What am I going to realise that the longer I drag this out the longer it is going to take to pay my get back and I don't wanna be in this situation.
I keep saying I don't wanna be in a situation that nothing is really registering!! Grrrrr
I mean it's great that I keep coming on here and people like ninja saving cat has given me inspiration. I mean she has paid back over £16,000 in A year, and in that time what have I paid hardly anything but yet still skint!
Therefore I have now changed the way I manage my bank accounts.
my bank account that my salary goes into now has just bills in there and anything extra for petrol/food//dentist/birthdays has gone into separate account.
For my main bank account which is the one that my salary is paid into I've taken the bank card out of my purse and I've left it at home.
This way I can't actually get into it and I am paying back my debts and my bills first rather than the other way round!!!!
I am going to conquer this debt and I'm determined to do so, unfortunately I've just had to try different ways to find out what works best to be able to do so

    3 month review
    Review of april-June 2013

This quarter has been jam packed with socialising. Nothing to show for myself

    Best Financial Decision

    - Still not using pay day loans
    - Still keeping my 2nd job
    - cutting down on meals out

    Worst Financial Decision

    - Going out and spending more than what was necessary
    - Not paying the bulk of free cash on debts as went out instead living the champagne lifestyle/beer money
    - Treating me and mum to a holiday - worked out so much more expensive than I thought!!!

Priorities and focus for September- December

    - Start dental treatment
    - Start my marathon training
    - get to goal weight (1 stone to go )

    Specific Changes For September-December

    - Change outlook of paying back debt. Pay them first then I live off the balance
    - Keep aiming to complete ninja saving Kats monthly challenges
    - Be more regimental and stick to my budgets I have set for the year
    - Sell on Ebay/car boots to help towards debt repayments whilst de cluttering my home.

Specific Goals For September - December
    - knock £1500 off debt

  • Hi diary
I've had a good week not spending on anything non essential! It feels so good too and I really am thinking about my choices. My only confession would be that I did buy a bottle of wine and fish n chips . I feel good still though as could easily buy a bottle every other day and eat out at a fancy restaurant.
Going to work soon to earn some money but unfortunately I need it for the dentist (my treatment is £2k :-( )

  • So since last checking in I have been working very hard trying to keep focused and reassessing my debts.

I have changed all my bank details around so my bill account is seperate from my living accounts and hopefully this will help me start living within the budgets that I need to adjust to until I pay my debt back.

I find it really hard Somedays when you realise that you still at the bottom of the mountain and you've got to climb to the top.

I nearly had a moment of weakness today but I am proud of myself that I didn't let it get me. Anyone who's been following my diary and sees me on other threads know that there are two things that I'm desperate for......a cooker and a car.

One of my friends just got the car that I've been wanting three long years for and I have to admit I did have a pang of jealousy take over me.

It then got me thinking my credit rating is starting to go up ....is not brilliant by any means but at least it is Going in the right direction !

she said she had bad credit rating as well that she got her finance to be something like £140 per month, so it got me thinking - maybe I could do that as my car is so old and embarrassing maybe I could be driving around in the car of my dreams? NO NO NO!

I sat with a cup of tea and thought "what am I fighting for?", "what has this past year been about", "how long do I want to be in debt?"

It has been a tough day to fight those demons of putting it in credit (that's if I was accepted of course) rather than saving for it.

I need to get myself out of debt only then can I start thinking about luxury purchases.

I'm happy my "determined diva" came through for me and it shows that yes - I will continue to have moments of madness but I can beat this!

I also thought about adding another £8000 onto my existing £11,000 debt! why would I want to take myself back up to £20,000 worth of debt why why WHY?

NO this debt cycle has GOT TO STOP! I can't take no more! And in a funny way my "on the cliff" moment has spurred me on to throw EVERYTHING at my debts now. If I would of done that when I joined last year, I would be debt free along with NSK - and I could be starting saving for the car and cooker rather than doing that in a years time once the debt has been paid off.

Right! "Operation no pain no gain" is officially underway!!!

  • This is the entry I was waiting for. It's not only the desire to be debt free but the absolutel fight that now encompasses your entire being. You are determined, you are focused although you recognise where the bad habits lie you WANT to change them and you want to change them so badly. This is the difference between wanting to be debt free and actually doing something about it. I know you can do this... everything about you now says you can.

About the teeth - contact your local dental college. They are watched closely by seniors and I have just had my fillings / crowns done for free to the tune of £1600 at least. Shop around!

Tell me how you are planning on killing £1500 of debt before the end of the year... two paydays - £750 each - so you think it's doable..?

  • Thanks Kat. I feel like I've seen my debt for the 1st time again but this time I am comitted to making it disappear and I'm actually excited about doing so!

So much so that after work last night (where I earned £61 to go to debt) we usually go out ( where about 1/3 of what I earn gets spent) afterwards, yesterday I declined the invite and came home :-)

After re jigging my bank account I have £700 leftover each month once everything else has been budgeted for, so £750 is doable as the above is from my main job, and I estimate I get a further £250-£300 from my 2nd job per month. That's a grand to play with, but I'm using 2nd job to pay for teeth (fab idea about college babes will check that out!)
