    The "Save 12k in 2018" Thread! 5th Dec 17 at 9:10 PM
So, the title is pretty self explanatory, but this is the place to be in 2018 it's that time of year, again!

In 2018, the aim is to save £12k (or, any other amount if you like) from 1st January 2018 til 31st December 2018. I know it's early, but it gives you the time to plan for how you are going to do it.

    RULES:

    - This challenge starts on 1st January 2018 00:00 and finishes on 31st December 2018 23:59.
    - Everything saved MUST be done between these two dates.
    - Any interest gained during this challenge on your savings can be counted!

Can I sign up please! Mine last year died a death as we bought our first house mid-year and have been renovating ever since. I am now ready to start focusing on saving again as the big renovations are complete (although a new kitchen would be nice when savings are replenished!) Going to aim for £3000. Thanks!

Can I be signed up please? I'll hopefully be buying a house next year so it will likely obliterate anything I save but I like being part of this challenge. I'll aim high and go for 12k

EDIT: On second thoughts I've decided to sit this challenge out for 2018 - buying a house combined with my 30th birthday at the end of next year means 2018 will be a spendy year and I'm not going to feel guilty about it because it's high time I reap the fruits of my labour....so see you in 2019 challenge.

Definitely want to get involved - though I think 12k will be a big ask for me, I only really got into the saving habit this year and next year my income will be a bit weird as Iím going freelance.

So Iíll aim for £6k please! Letís dream big!

I assume investment returns/losses don't count? but what about the govt bonus for LISA subscriptions?

Thought I'd check before signing up as it will dramatically affect my target and I'd need to adjust how I track my 'savings'.

    | counted my investment/p2p returns and fortunately never had losses but would have counted those too. Different people follow different rules in this challenge so do what fits your circumstances.
