    To use Guineapigsqueaks/Sa1sysoo words “A new thread for declutterbugs in 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019!"

I made a fairly good start in 2018 but 2019 is THE YEAR that I finally get to grips with a full declutter - I would like to have NO rooms/cupboards/drawers of Doom & I would like to have a revamped bathroom & fully decorated house My DH is going to be very busy

Plenty of options available on numbering the clutter out

2019 in 2019 or 52 in 52 weeks even 365 in 365 days & if you are feeling really adventurous a la basketcase - you can weigh the clutter out

Whichever you choose or you may choose not to number, we would love to hear both your success stories & your ways/methods of decluttering - they may not have worked for you but they may work for someone else

I am hoping that everyone who posted on the 2018 thread will also post on the 2019 thread

Welcome one and all and happy decluttering!

    MrsSD

P.S. Hope this works as it is my very first attempt at starting a Thread

    1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
    2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
    3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
    4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
    5. IF I WAS STARTING FROM SCRATCH, WOULD I BUY THIS?
    6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE

Saturday & Sunday have been reasonable days - mostly dry some rain usually overnight

Still no decluttering but the wool that DH ordered for me arrived on Saturday morning so I started the scarf that I promised to knit for one of my DH’s great nieces. Knitting feather & fan stitch & have used 100g of wool already
Saturday I raided the freezer - lo spaghetti in a creamy chicken & mushroom sauce topped with slices of mozzarella & baked for DSis. Cottage pie decorated with hg tomatoes for DH & I.
My DSis didn’t eat all hers so that is now being used as the base of an hm soup.
Sunday’s dinner was fresh penne with hm cheese sauce - cooked by my lovely DH

3812 - 3829 Six drinks tins, 2 glass bottles & metal caps, 3 lots of cardboard packaging, paper packaging, food can, 2 cardboard boxes, 2 small plastic pots, milk carton - Recycled
3830 - 3833 Two Bags of kitchen detritus, 2 lots of plastic packaging - Binned

Oh whmf00001 Can you enlist any help with the shopping? Good luck with the bay of e.

Well done villagelife I definitely approve of child labour

Wow euronorris no wonder you are knackered & getting DH on board is a major feat

Good work on the decluttering bit by bit Your IP address being banned is possibly a Forum problem - both times I was banned it took the forum team 3 goes to unban my IP address.

Good luck with the listings choille. I do love cheerleading - hopefully it keeps people’s spirits up

Excellent work TC77 Relocating items to appropriate places does count as decluttering & can be numbered as such Wishing you & your family better health in the very near future

    See you tomorrow fellow declutterers.

    Just a quick pop in!
Miserable Monday - very wet & still drizzling & very dark perfect knitting day but unfortunately I was supposed to be doing some outside work today including sm trip C’est la vie Think that as it is sooo chilly I will have to bite the bullet & put on the heating - I usually try to hang on until November The changeover to winter bedding will take place today.

Have evicted a slug from the front doorstep - it obviously wanted to come in

    See you later

Ah it s been a while my dears, soooo many posts to catch up on!

I’ve hit my target now and can’t find my last post to find what number I was up too.

Lots of decluttering done, three trips to the charity shop. But life and puppy have gotten in the way for recording it all.

I promise to try to do better from now on.

I'm back: it's been about ten days since I posted and I think if I haven't reached my target, I'm very close. I'm not intending to stop though.

Most of this latest lot of decluttering was done in a couple of days in the ongoing clearing of Mum's house. I was feeling a bit under the weather as I was short of sleep, so I mostly went through old papers. I found some treasure including my Grandma's letters to Dad during the war, which I've brought home for safekeeping. I also found a lot of bits to throw out: 'paper decisions' can take as much energy as bigger things but there are a lot of them in the recycling now.

There are also some oddments decluttered from home but I'll lump them all in together:

Candle lamp to charity, glass lid broken and binned, dock plant that was growing in a gutter, 2 dud pens, 1/2 jar of coffee that had gone disgusting, blunt scissors in metal recycling, 2 hardened paintbrushes, 2 fish-related items given to a friend who likes fish, 2 magazines, 7 plastic bags, 5 booklets and 117 pieces of paper.

    Total 142.
    Previous total 1899/2019
    New total 2,041! Made it!

Could I possibly make it 2,500 by the end of the year?

    Evening everyone.
Not much decluttering being done at present, except for decluttering my energy but come Friday that'll be changing and I'm back to normality....... and onba weeks break from work altogether

I have sold 5 items in Ebay though so not too bad, they're getting posted tomorrow.

Weather has turned very cold here so summer duvets have been removed and winter duvets put on.
My target during my holiday is to tidy up and declutter the attic again, as we've just been putting stuff up there until later and later never arrives lol.

    Hello all.

I've been out of action for a few weeks and my house turned into a total tip. Anyway yesterday I managed to tidy and vacuum my bedroom and do a load of washing and drying. I feel so exhausted with treatment at the moment but feel proud of what I've achieved.

I'm working with a nutritionist at the moment and I'm hopefully going to have more energy once the new eating plan kicks in. Then I will be back with a bang.

Everyone is achieving so much. Keep going.

Monday continued wet & miserable I stripped the bed - washed, tumble dried, folded & put away the summer bedding. DH & I rotated the mattress & then I put on the winter bedding. Very cosy last night I have finished the scarf - approx 8’ long so no reason now not to declutter Hm soup for lunch - OK but not one of my best DSis had some spare ribs from the freezer.
Dinner was home cooked fish, chips & peas.
Tuesday has been a dry, crisp & sunny day. Phoned bank & paid cc bill in full of course I have gone through the toiletries etc kept on a shelf in the wardrobe - one item binned & one item in cs bag. I think I must have already binned all my old make up as I couldn’t find any DH went to sm for the heavy stuff & then retired to the garage - new project an 8 pint cast iron pot - exceedingly rusty but once renovated & painted will be used as a plant pot
I finished weeding the last bit of the paving - half an hour of vigorous exercise - just the decorative brickwork now - but will probably only do 15-20 minute stints. I went to the sm for lightweight items - waited 20 minutes then a gentleman walking past advised that the buses were on diversion Walked up to the main road & caught a bus & discovered that both ends of the usual bus route road were closed Good job it was only a lightweight shop as I walked home rather than faff about with buses
Dinner was sausages, mash & baked beans 😋

3834 - 3853 Five drinks tins, 2 glass bottles & metal caps, 7 lots of cardboard packaging, 3 food cans, 2 magazines, 1” paperwork - Recycled
3854 - 3856 Bag of kitchen detritus, 0.5” shredding, very ood hair product - Binned
3857 - 3858 Belt, specialised hair drying towel (gift from France never used ) - CS bag

Hope you can source some cheap batteries whmf00001. Also hope d-i-l is in one of her lovely moods

Welcome aboard oldtractor : We love new faces (especially me ) You are now officially aboard the Decluttering Bandwagon The reasons for decluttering are myriad & I think you will find most of them on this thread Every single item out - whether it is binned, recycled, sold, donated or even reallocated to a more appropriate storage space - is a win & is to be celebrated Looking forward to seeing your posts - you might even give us new ideas of what & where to declutter

    Well Done: Barny1979; Cherryfudge you have smashed your target - Gold Star ⭐️ coming your way & I have no doubt you will reach 2500 ; IrishRose more pennies in the bank ; choille;

TamsinC - 2150 on page 163 My other pleasure apart from cheerleading

Nice to see you parsniphead - tidying & cleaning is a huge part of decluttering - you are decluttering the stress of untidiness Please look after yourself & try not to do too much - it will all still be there tomorrow Hugs are on offer if required

    See you tomorrow fellow declutterers.

Oh dear - d-in-l has emergency neuro appointment today and am hoping for the best so listing idea will have to wait and see. I just got too many "medical" things going on with me hopefully to be sorted by Xmas so it will have to wait, it costs nothing othdr than a clutter and I have plenty of that, still got lots of mum's stuff to clear. At least none of it costs money to keep

Wednesday has been dry so far & reasonably warm for the time of year due to the low cloud cover - see my silver lining to the cloud DSis has put a wash load on. I have had a fairly productive hour or so -
Washed down the skirting in the kitchen, swept then vacuumed the floor, floor has been mopped & is drying - woe betide anyone who enters before it is completely dry Turned & swapped round both sets of sofa cushions - to get even wear I got 15+ plus years out of the last sofas with NO tlc so hopefully the tlc for these sofas will see me out & I have plans to live until I’m 100 all the clutter may even be gone by then Vacuumed downstairs including hallway & cloakroom which have both been mopped.
DH is in the garage - sorting, binning & tidying.

THREE HOURS LATER I am back to finish my post We have been busy I had volunteered DH to prune a tree/bush for the neighbour’s across the road As their kids are on half term & it was dry,it was all adult hands on deck : All told with the pruning, shredding & tidying up took about 45 minutes. Our neighbours have one full green bag & we have 2. That will teach DH to have all the appropriate gardening tools We all got to see each other’s gardens & next year I will have a supply of cooking apples Love their garden - quite large in an L-shape. Neighbour loves our new patio. She also appeared slightly envious that my DH is so handy apparently her DH is not very handy but is a bit of a hoarder she has to declutter in secret
The rain has started & we are now all indoors & finished working

    Well Done - Barny1979; choille;

*480 managed to drop rolls of wallpaper off at the CS before the decorator arrived. One roll was binned after being trashed by the cats which made me think it wasn't such a good idea to have a spongy type of wallpaper on the walls-cat heaven!!!!!!!!!!
