    Am I Mad? 20th Oct 04 at 11:58 AM
Had a friend round ay weekend, and after washing up i put wooden utensils (wooden spoons, bread board) in the still warm oven to dry out. now she seemed to think this'd damage them, and i was barking for doing it, but i find they take forever to dry if i put them away, and smell damp otherwise?

so am i doing it wrong, does anyone know?

I always put my metal tins in the oven to dry but I didn't think to put my wooden board in. I can't use wooden spoons anyway. You know how people react when someone scratches their hand down a blackboard (I can see you all cringing!) - well thats how I react to wooden spoons that are wet. Yuck! Can't touch them!

I always put my wooden spoons in the dishwasher. They come out dry and haven't been damaged yet. Still using the same ones for must be 15 years or so. Always put baking dishes & and roasting pand (or anything metal) in the oven to dry. Saves them possibly going rusty.

I used to hate it in cinemas too if they gave you a tub of ice cream with a wooden spoon instead of a plastic one! :-X
