My Wife pays over £260 a year to the rac.

Earlier today she had to call them because her car wouldn't start she was told they would be out in 5 hours time

In the end it was quicker for me to travel 30 miles with a set of jump leads to start the car.

Ironically on my way to there I saw a rac van parked up doing nothing at a local farm cafe.

I have told my Wife when the renewal is up do not renew with them there must be a better alternative.

This is not a breakdown service it is a joke.

Are you saying their staff aren't entitled to a break?

Was she stranded at the side of the road?

I'd be questioning why she is paying twice as much as the most expensive package that is available on their website (£134 - which is still much more than I would want to pay).

He might be suggesting that 5hr breaks are somewhat generous.

Now would be a good time to search around for cheaper cover. About £200 cheaper.

Could be part of an RAC car insurance package?

Wife's Micra broke down and she had Green Flag cover. The bloke who came was apparently very surly to the point of rudeness, which isn't the best for a stranded female driver (luckily she wasn't stranded anywhere remotely remote on this occasion), but he arrived within an hour and had her on the road again without fuss.

I have RAC Cover through a bank account, but as for most of my driving life I have owned a Nissan Almera I have never needed it.

I'm with Green Flag and pay £54 for their top tier. I've called them out three times in 10 years and always had excellent service each time.

And, no I don't work for them!
