NatWest £125 switch incentive

I have none of those (until I get my passport renewed), and I'm not sure exactly how I'd go about getting HMRC to send me a letter regarding tax without them having a particular reason to do so.
Make it their problem; not yours. Phone Natwest and ask them. Then moan, complain and ask for compensation.0 -
Okay, thanks, but where is it stated that NatWest's OLB system is set up to not allow card readers to be enabled/activated until two to three days after one has been ordered?
It doesn't say....but... I have several card readers so I ordered one from Natwest for my brand new select account 3 days ago, then 2 days ago I thought I'd try to "enable" so I could do a transfer. It wouldn't let me - I guess they have some system that stops you enabling until after they have sent it out and a switch goes from FALSE to TRUE.0 -

I don't think NatWest state this anywhere, it's just what people have experienced and posted on here.
I've read that it's not due to security but rather that NatWest's systems get updated overnight so you can't enable on the same day as ordering. This was my experience and I was able to enable with a Nationwide card reader the day after ordering the NatWest one.0 -

However, as you say, you are just guessing. I don't quite follow EachPenny's suggestion to phone NatWest to enquire why it WAS possible to enable a card reader 5 minutes after ordering0 -
Because NatWest's OLB system is set up to not allow card readers to be enabled/activated until two to three days after one has been ordered. This is apparently for 'security' reasons.
If that usual system imposed delay hasn't been applied then it is out of the normal and I'd want to know why.
...just to be on the safe side.0 -

It seemed to enable my reader without a problem. In fact, during the process my reader showed a low battery message so I then went through the enable process with a Nationwide reader which I don't use. I haven't transferred any money across as the account which is in the process of being switched had money in it to cover the £1500 required. Once the switch has happened (supposed to be tomorrow) then I'll attempt to move some money out of the account and see what happens.
This supports my belief that all card readers are generic and once one has been ordered and enabled that any reader will work.0 -
I have just tested the NatWest card reader with an unused Nationwide reader straight out of the box. It clearly has never been enabled but I was able to use it to change my online password.

Correct. I did this several days with my N/wide card reader and it worked fine.0
