PIP time scales

Hi, we made A claim to PIP in August and the form was returned in early September. We was told approx 10 weeks for a decision. Can’t remember if it was 4 with atos and 6 with dwp or visa versa. Dwp ? informed atos to do a home visit and this was not done until mid December. To date we have heard nothing. Even confirmation they j
had received the report. Anyone suggest how long it may be. q

It varies but mine took 8 weeks from the date of assessment. Have you asked for your report? Best to call and ask for a copy as soon as. It should give you an idea of if you may need to do a mandatory reconsideration x

We asked at the time of the assessment what she was going to write and she didn’t tell us just said it’s down to dwp. But seeing how few questions that they asked and to push his hands up and down I sent a letter. I know it’s capabilities but she didn’t even note he had a blue badge now. Will ring tomorrow.

There's no timescales for any decision, backlogs are just part of the reason a decision can be delayed.

You can ring DWP to request a copy of the assessment report to be sent to you. This will give you some idea what the decision is likely to be because they mostly go with the report.

It's impossible to know what was written until you request it and receive it.

We had the forms in September last year and just got back the decision a few days ago so I wouldn't worry. We did get a letter just before Xmas saying they had enough for a decision BDO if you've had that letter it won't be long.

We have a copy of the notes and so much of it was copy and paste and so many contradictions. A sheer fascination that he was able to lift his hands once to shoulder level and can hold a walking stick and can drive. It’s electric and virtually drives and parks itself. Told expect a decision early Feb so ready to draft the MR if needed.

Notes? do you mean the assessment report? If so then have you added up any points that may have been recommended in that report? If you haven't then you should do that against the PIP descriptors. Look for the dots next to the activities/descriptors.

They usually go with the report. Once the decision's been made, if you're not happy then you'll have 1 month from that date to request the MR. You should put that in writing stating where and why you think he should have scored those points. Then add a couple of real life examples of what happened the last time he attempted that activity for each descriptor that applies to him.

You should avoid mentioning any lies/contradictions that may have been told in the report because DWP/Tribunal won't be interested in any of those. Any complaints about the report should be sent to the health assessment providers.

Most MR decisions remain the same so it's likely you'll have to take it to Tribunal.

Had a copy of the paramedics report not the dwp decision yet. So it’s difficult to try and score her comments against the points system without not being impartial. Does not help that since the form was completed and the assessment 4 months later ie December his medical condition has deteriorated thus his capabilities reduced. Can’t do anything for a month or so but thanks for all your responses

You're misunderstanding the whole point of receiving a copy of the report. It's the dots against the descriptors you need to look at, then look at the descriptors online to see what score is recommended. This is exactly what the decision maker will do because it's very rare for them to go against the report. The paramedics report is the assessment report, otherwise known as the PA4 report, when it's face to face assessment.

If you do have to go down the MR/Tribunal route then any worsening of condition will not be taken into consideration.

As for the timescales you keep mentioning, as previously advised, there isn't any. Once the report has been returned a decision can be at anytime.
