Hargreaves Lansdown past performance data

Options
Hi all,

We have a bit of cash we're looking to put into something other than fast living, about £10k.

I'm interested in a HL stock and share ISA but having had a bit of a google I can't see any guide on past performance to gauge it against. Does or has anyone see this and could you link to it?

The option is to find a crap savings account and just dump the cash in there but aware it's effectively shrinking YoY.

Thanks

If you aren't talking about their managed service then HL themselves just facilitate the purchase of investments via a nominee account and charge you a fee for doing so.

The actual investment product you choose to buy via HL is what will drive the performance. The HL fees (amongst others) are what will then provide a drag on that performance.

A Stocks & Shares ISA is a tax wrapper which holds investments. Where do you want the money invested?

HL just provides the platform. There are literally thousands of funds you can choose from via them.

If the level of choice feels overwhelming then you could choose one of the simple funds to get going.
Perhaps Legal & General International Index Trust.

Hargreaves Lansdown is just an investment platform, one their services they offer is Stocks & Shares ISA and clients can invest in anything they want to (provided they are eligible).

Have a good read here to learn what S&S ISAs are and how to get started: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/stocks-shares-isas/#what

As an analogy you can see HL as supermarket and you buy things ( investments in this case ) off the shelves.
Although slightly confusingly they have a few of their own brand funds mixed in with all the other ones.

Another way to look at it is if you held fund X in HL ISA and Fund X in another ISA , they would perform the same . The only difference is that HL and other companies offering ISA's charge a small fee for operating the ISA and the fees are not identical.
